Arteventura Ecologic Artist's Residence in the Spanish Inland - Open Call 2027
arteventura I ecologic artist’s residence in the Spanish inland I open call 2027 Deadline: 30 Aug 2026 Country: Spain Arteventura is an artist residency set on a 25-hectare wooded estate deep in the Spanish inland. The project is founded on a philosophy of autonomy and a return to essentials. Arteventura offers silence, space, and time for research, experimentation, and the creation of new, adventurous work. The residency emphasizes process, investigation, and experimentation as integral parts of artistic practice, fostering a strong connection between research and the residency experience. Arteventura aims to be a place where international artists and local communities come together. In this region, tradition still plays an important role in daily life, yet it coexists with curiosity and openness to the world beyond. Artists can collaborate with local artisans, while residents are encouraged to engage with and discover contemporary art—a true exchange of cultures and ideas. Duration of residency Residencies have a minimum duration of four weeks and can be extended up to three months. Each residency follows fixed start and end dates, providing a structured timeline that supports continuity and a focused atmosphere, allowing artists to fully immerse themselves in their practice. The set schedule also encourages a sense of community among participants, balancing individual exploration with opportunities for collective interaction, while minimizing distractions and outside interruptions. Accommodation We aim to host a maximum of 4 artists in residence during the winter and 6 during the summer at any given time, excluding groups. Individual apartments of 40 m2:There are 2 individual apartments dispersed along the finca, with a distance of ±30 metres from each other and a short steep hike from the studio. Each apartment has it’s own kitchen, bathroom, 2 single fold up beds and a terras with view. They are set up as a flexible working area. Artists who prefer to work in their own flat can ask for extra tables. These apartments are only suitable for 1 artist and can not be shared with another artist. Two bedroom apartment:Located next to the studio on the top floor, a spacious two-bedroom apartment offers flexible living for artists. The apartment features two bedrooms, a large kitchen, two bathrooms, and a private terrace. It is ideal for two artists applying as a duo, whether or not you are working on a joint project—both artists must complete the application. Shared Option:You can also apply for a shared spot in the two bedroom apartment. In this setup, you will be paired with another selected artist. Each of you will have a private bedroom and bathroom, while the kitchen and terrace are shared—perfect for those seeking both privacy and creative exchange. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance The residency is open to anyone professionally engaged in the arts—not only visual artists, but also curators, writers, composers, designers, architects, and more. It suits those seeking quiet and solitude as well as those looking for interaction and dialogue; the residency offers a flexible environment for both. It provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in nature, away from the distractions of urban life. It is also ideal for those who wish to experience the challenges and rewards of off-grid living, embracing sustainability, simplicity, and the natural rhythm of the surroundings.Studio / Workspace The communal studio of 300 m2 consist of an inside and outside working area that borders together. In the winter, the atelier will be heated by a big wooden stove. It is always possible to work in the open air. After all, the finca is 25 hectares, and some parts are still wild.
