Pottery Farm Residency Deadline: 30 Aug 2026 Country: France Pottery Farm Gallery is a rural creative retreat offering short-term residencies for artists from all disciplines. Located in the heart of the Gascony countryside in southwest France, the residency provides a quiet, nurturing, and distraction-free environment where artists can slow down, focus deeply and reconnect with their creative process. Surrounded by open fields, big skies, and expansive views of the Pyrenees mountains, Pottery Farm Gallery is a place for reflection, experimentation, and sustained creative work. The rhythm of life here is intentionally simple, allowing residents to step away from daily pressures and immerse themselves fully in their projects. The residency is designed for artists who value time, space, and solitude as essential parts of their practice. There are no mandatory outcomes, public presentations, or production requirements. Instead, the emphasis is on process, presence, and personal creative development. Artists are encouraged to work at their own pace, whether that involves long hours in the studio, walking in nature, reading, writing, sketching, researching, or resting. The environment supports both intense focus and gentle exploration. Duration of residency The residencies run from May to October over a period of two weeks. There is the possibility of extending this period to be negotiated when signing the contract. Please keep in mind that they fill up quickly and we have a selection process in place for each artist. Accommodation Artists are accommodated in private rooms within the main farmhouse. Each room has been thoughtfully arranged to support both rest and creative work. Several rooms feature mezzanine layouts, allowing a clear separation between sleeping and working areas. Private Rooms Anaïs’ RoomA generously proportioned room with the bedroom on the lower level and a workspace on the mezzanine. Large windows flood the space with natural light and offer expansive views of the Pyrenees, creating a calm and inspiring atmosphere. Laura’s RoomDesigned for both living and creating in comfort, this mezzanine-style room features sleeping space on the first level and a spacious workspace above. It includes a large wardrobe suitable for clothing and materials, with views over surrounding fields and countryside. Benjie’s RoomA bright corner room with windows on two sides, allowing light throughout the day. It offers views of both the Pyrenees and nearby fields and includes a small desk, making it particularly well suited for writers or focused, quiet work. Camille’s RoomA spacious single-level room with a bed, large desk, wardrobe, and chest of drawers. The room overlooks open fields and the distant Pyrenees and offers a tranquil working environment. Millie’s RoomSimilar in layout to Camille’s room, Millie’s Room is generously sized and includes a bed, wardrobe, and a long wooden desk ideal for extended creative sessions. Shared Living Spaces Living Room (First Floor)A large, light-filled room with wooden ceilings and four expansive windows offering panoramic views. The space is surrounded by a library and is ideal for reading, research, writing, or quiet reflection. Living Room (Ground Floor)A cozy communal space overlooking the countryside and the Pyrenees. It includes several seating areas suitable for working or relaxing, as well as a television and a collection of vintage DVDs for evenings. Bathrooms & Practical Facilities There are two shared bathrooms: - First Floor Bathroom:A bright, sunlit bathroom with a shower, toilet, double sink, ample shelving, and stunning mountain views. - Ground Floor Bathroom:Equipped with a bathtub, separate shower, double sink, and washing machine. Outdoor space behind the house is available for drying clothes naturally. Kitchen & Meals The residency is offered on a self-catering basis. Residents share a fully equipped kitchen, including: - Range gas cooker with two electric ovens - Large refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher - Fully stocked cupboards with cooking and dining essentials Each resident is provided with dedicated cupboard, fridge, and freezer space. Meals can be prepared individually or shared informally around the communal kitchen table. The nearby village of Mauvezin, located 3 km away, offers a large supermarket and weekly farmers’ markets. Residents may be taken shopping or borrow a communal car for short journeys. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome artists from all disciplines, the priority is getting the right fit, finding artists keen to detach from their normal routine away from all of the distractions of every day life in order to focus on their project. It wFees and support To secure your place, a 50% deposit is required upon acceptance of your application. The remaining balance is due at least one month before your residency begins. If selected, we’ll send you all the information about payment methods and our cancellation policy.  Cost: 1300€ per person for a 2-week stay.
