Sustainability Virtual Artist Residency – 9 weeks – Starts September 2026 Deadline: 09 Aug 2026 Country: Global Sustainability Virtual Art Residency Open to artists who envision a more SUSTAINABLE and equitable future. The program welcomes creators who explore the interconnected well-being of our lands, waters, oceans, and communities, along with the environmental, social, cultural, and economic systems that shape everyday life. This program recognizes the essential role of culture in advancing sustainable development in a holistic manner. It also values artistic perspectives that demonstrate how education can empower people with the knowledge, skills, values, and behaviors necessary to care for the environment, the economy, and society. Through this global virtual space, artists can exchange ideas, develop new work, and contribute to more resilient and inclusive communities. During the program, we host special guests from the field of science, with the aim of providing a scientific and/or ancestral knowledge perspective where the artist can engage in questions and dialogue to enhance their ideas. We conclude the program with an Open Studio and the opening of the virtual exhibition, where the resident artist opens their workspace virtually, also showcasing the creative process, so that virtual visitors can engage with the artist and their creations. 9 weeks 1 invited scientist speaker and/or 1 ancestral knowledge speaker Virtual Open Studio 1 virtual exhibition What’s included? . Mentoring sessions: Participate in eight live virtual meetings with experienced mentors from MANGO and/or Moku Art Studio, designed to support your creative growth. . Projects inspired by sustainability: Explore the theme of sustainability through your own unique lens, whether by delving into technical processes, conceptual thinking, personal reflection, or sensory experience. . Creative feedback: Receive practical and thoughtful guidance to help you develop your ideas, improve your techniques, and shape your artistic direction. . Collaborative exchange: Work alongside other artists in your group, sharing ideas, inspiration, and creative processes through meaningful collaboration. . Broaden your perspective: Special guests from the scientific and/or ancestral communities will attend to provide concrete insights on topics related to the atmosphere. . Virtual exhibition: Share your finished work in a virtual open studio and at the exhibition opening, connecting with a global community of artists and art enthusiasts. Duration of residency 9 weeks: one meeting per week, 2 hours each meeting.The last meeting is a 1 or 1 1/2 hour virtual open studio. Accommodation We use Google Meet and Google Document. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Artists of all nationalities are welcome to participate (visual, performance, writers, musicians, etc) and all nationalities.Studio / Workspace Artists can participate from their own workspaces.Fees and support The total cost of this program is $450 USD (United States dollars). Both MANGO Residencia para Artistas and Moku Art Studio are self-sustainable and non-profit spaces and currently do not receive financial support from public or private entities. The costs will cover: • Active participation in the Virtual Artist Residency (which includes active participation with other artists in the residency, with members of MANGO Residencia para Artistas or Moku Art Studio, and in meetings with special guests). • Access the scientific community and ancestral knowledge.• Participation in the Virtual Open Studio and the Virtual Exhibition. • Promotion of the artist during the program, promotion of the program itself, promotion of the Open Studio, and the virtual Exhibition. Expectations towards the artist to complete the program, to be present in the virtual meetings, to be open to dialogue and exchange ideas, to participate actively in the meetings and in the Google Document that will be share, to develop their artistic project, to participate with their developed artistic project in the virtual exhibition on the dates arranged by MANGO and Moku, to interact with the other artists of the program and with both MANGO and Moku.
