DRAW – Autumn residency (September/October). Deadline: 27 Aug 2026 Country: France To cultivate a reflective, experimental, and interdisciplinary culture of drawing — as both a philosophical and material practice — connecting local contexts with global dialogues. To provide a self-sustaining environment that supports practice-led research, collaboration, and experimentation, fostering a culture of openness and exchange. Participants are invited to engage in process-based research, exchange critical perspectives, and create works that test the boundaries between artistic practice and theoretical reflection. Duration of residency Residencies are offered for a minimum of one month and up to three months. Accommodation The centre for drawing research is situated in the heart of Caylus, a small medieval village in SW France, a rural community with a growing number of artists and craftspeople. Artists have shared self catering accommodation with private bedrooms. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We work with architects, designers, writers and professionals in the applied and fine arts. These artists come from many different countries and bring with them many diverse experiences, but all have something in common, a humanity and a passion for drawing. We are interested in creative people who would appreciate the opportunity for sustained concentration in a supportive professional studio environment, in order to develop their artistic practice by engaging in, new perspectives, experiences and challenges.Studio / Workspace Artists are allocated individual studio spaces to suit particular project requirements, with unlimited access. Additional facilities include, flexible studio space for large scale works/installation/performance/music, a technical workshop, etching press, and technical assistance.Fees and support DRAWinternational is a professional artist led centre for drawing research that we have successfully run for over twenty years. We recognise that people are currently facing difficulties across the world with the high costs of living and all the challenges this brings. This has also impacted cultural centres, artist residencies and funding opportunities that have become increasingly limited. Drawinternational operates on a non-salaried, non-profit basis and the we endeavour to keep the contribution from artists’ as low as possible. Expectations towards the artist Artists are encouraged to open their studios to the public at the end of their residency. An indication of the equipment and material you may use, we do not provide artists materials however each artist has a different set of requirements and we would only accept those who we feel we can assist in a professional capacity.
