Pottery Farm Residency Deadline: 16 Aug 2026 Country: France Pottery Farm Gallery is a rural creative retreat offering short-term residencies for artists from all disciplines. Located in the heart of the Gascony countryside in southwest France, the residency provides a quiet, nurturing, and distraction-free environment where artists can slow down, focus deeply and reconnect with their creative process. Surrounded by open fields, big skies, and expansive views of the Pyrenees mountains, Pottery Farm Gallery is a place for reflection, experimentation, and sustained creative work. The rhythm of life here is intentionally simple, allowing residents to step away from daily pressures and immerse themselves fully in their projects. The residency is designed for artists who value time, space, and solitude as essential parts of their practice. There are no mandatory outcomes, public presentations, or production requirements. Instead, the emphasis is on process, presence, and personal creative development. Artists are encouraged to work at their own pace, whether that involves long hours in the studio, walking in nature, reading, writing, sketching, researching, or resting. The environment supports both intense focus and gentle exploration. Duration of residency The residencies run from May to October over a period of two weeks. There is the possibility of extending this period to be negotiated when signing the contract. Please keep in mind that they fill up quickly and we have a selection process in place for each artist. Residencies take place between May and October and run for two weeks.In some cases, an extension may be possible and can be discussed at the time of contract signing. Places are limited and applications are selected carefully to ensure a good fit between residents and the ethos of the residency. We recommend applying early, as sessions fill quickly. Accommodation The house is a typical Gascony stone farmhouse set on a hill with spectacular 360º views overlooking the full range of the Pyrenees on a clear day. Anaïs’ Room Generously proportioned, this room places the bedroom on the first level and the workspace on the mezzanine, allowing you to easily separate rest from inspiration. Its large windows flood the room with natural light, offering stunning views of snow-capped mountains on a good day. Living Room (1st floor) The spacious second living room, with cheddar wooden ceilings, is perfect for book lovers. It features a library surrounding the space and four large windows with stunning views, allowing you to enjoy some peaceful time in a light filled open space. Laura’s Room This space is designed for living and creating in absolute comfort. With a mezzanine layout, you can sleep on the first level and work comfortably on the second. It features a spacious wardrobe for your clothes and materials, as well as a beautiful view of the surrounding fields and natural landscape. Bathroom (1st floor) There are two bathrooms. The bright sunlit bathroom on the first floor has a shower, toilet and double sink. There is plenty of shelf space for your toiletries and pegs for hanging towels. The views over the mountains is stunning. Kitchen The accommodation is provided on a self-catering basis and residents are given cupboard, fridge and freezer space, plus shared use of a fully fitted kitchen. There is a range gas cooker with two electric ovens, a large fridge, microwave and dishwasher. The cupboards are full of everything you need for cooking and dining. Residents can shop and cook for themselves or share their favourite dishes around the community kitchen table. The village of Mauvezin is 3 km away and has a large supermarket and weekly farmer’s markets. Residents can either be taken shopping or can borrow a communal car for short journeys.  Benjie’s Room This corner room has two windows giving light all through the day. It has views of both the Pyrénées and the fields. A small desk provides a peaceful workspace perfect for any artist, especially ideal for writers. There is a large fitted wardrobe and extra drawers under the bed. Living room (ground floor) The living room is cozy, featuring three large windows overlooking the Pyrenees and the countryside, with various areas where you can work, relax, and find inspiration. There is a TV with a collection of vintage DVDs for relaxing evenings. Camille’s Room While it doesn’t have a mezzanine, it offers generous space with a bed, a large desk for tranquil work, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. This bright room overlooks the fields, the Pyrénées, and a charming view of the vast beautiful countryside. Bathroom (ground floor) With the option of a separate shower and bathtub, plus a double sink. The washing machine is available and plenty of space outside behind the house for drying in a natural setting. Millie’s Room Similar in layout to Camille’s room, this single-level room is spacious and includes a wardrobe, bed, and a long wooden desk to work on your creations. There is an enclosed log fire that heats the whole house during the colder months. There is plenty of wood provided and you may enjoy participating in the activity bringing in logs and maintaining heating the house.  Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome artists from all disciplines, the priority is getting the right fit, finding artists keen to detach from their normal routine away from all of the distractions of every day life in order to focus on their project. Applications : all applications are welcome.   Expectations towards the artist There are no specific expectations towards the artist. This residency is designed for individuals fully engaged in their creative work, ensuring that all residents can concentrate deeply on their projects without distractions.
