Program Structure & Dynamics The residency is designed in three distinct, interconnected phases: Phase 1: Online Curatorial Development (Sept 2026 – Aug 2027) A 12-month long-term online phase focusing on individual curatorial mentorship, critique spaces, and conceptual project building. This phase prepares artists to build a solid body of work and strategize for international circulation, with specific preparation for the Chinese context. Phase 2: On-Site Residency at OrganHaus, China (Sept 2027) A 1-month in-person artistic immersion in Chongqing (distributed in flexible cohorts of 3 to 4 artists). Selected creators will stay and work at OrganHaus’s facilities in the Beibei Beiyuan Glass Factory, featuring shared studio spaces, access to local infrastructure, and direct interaction with Chinese artists, curators, and cultural agents. Phase 3: Closing & Circulation A platform for public presentation. Depending on the nature of the developed projects, outcomes may include group exhibitions, open studios, artist talks, public activations, or digital/printed publications. Artists are responsible for their own travel, visa, and production expenses. Duration of residency This is a hybrid research and production program that includes: • 12 months of online curatorial mentorship. • A 1-month on-site artistic residency in Chongqing, China. Accommodation On-site accommodation is fully provided for the selected artists by OrganHaus at their residency facilities, located at the Beibei Beiyuan Glass Factory in Chongqing, China. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Eligible Disciplines: Visual arts, contemporary photography, expanded photography, video art, installation, interdisciplinary practices, and artistic research. Work Equipment and Assistance: Phase 1 (Online): Includes long-term individual curatorial mentorship, critique spaces, and conceptual project development to build a solid body of work and prepare for the Chinese context. Phase 2 & 3 (On-site): Artists receive local logistical support, access to local infrastructure, and deep immersion into the Chongqing contemporary art scene.
