Quiet Retreat in the Norwegian Forest Deadline: 20 Aug 2026 Country: Norway Atelier Austmarka is a non-profit artist residency in Finnskogen, offering studios and accommodation for Norwegian and international artists across all disciplines. Our goal is to facilitate deep concentration, artistic development, and production. The core conditions of the residency are silence, immersion, and a secluded environment in nature. We offer both private and shared studios, and the residency has been active since 2014. Duration of residency The duration of the residency varies from a minimum of 2 weeks up to 3 months, depending on the artist’s needs and the scope of the project. Applicants can specify their preferred time period in their application. Accommodation Artists stay in private rooms right next to the studio during their residency, and the kitchen and bathroom are shared with other guests. Since the house is not well-insulated for sound, guests are encouraged to show mutual consideration in the residential parts of the shared areas Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome most creative disciplines, providing great working conditions for visual arts, writers, and digital sound creators. The studio is a bright, shared workspace with running water, electricity, and high-speed internet. For desk-based work, smaller private workspaces are available. We have some basic equipment and a selection of hand tools available on-site. For longer stays, we can order materials that the artist purchases from us. No technical assistance is provided, so artists must be self-reliant and bring their own specialized tools.Studio / Workspace Describe the studio or work space the artist can use, is it private/shared? The main rule is a bright, shared studio with large windows, equipped with both running water and electricity. In exceptional cases, and with a special focus on writers or others who need desk space, a smaller private workspace is also available by agreement in the application.Fees and support The residency fee depends on the type of stay granted, and we offer three options: 1. Fully paid stay: A standard stay with no further obligations. 2. Subsidized stay: A more affordable option that can be granted in exchange for visibility and promotion on social media. We require an analysis of the reach and impact of the applicant’s social media platforms during the evaluation. 3. Free stay: The stay itself is free, but it requires promotion on digital platforms before, during, and after the residency. A small payment is also required to confirm the agreement. Experience shows that agreements without any financial commitment lead to no-shows, which creates major problems for our future funding and artist grants. Half of this payment is returned upon arrival in the form of a local grocery store gift card. Call for German, Czech or Polish artists Post date 19/08/2026 Group Exhibition at the Kunsthalle Görlitz, Granite & Gravity (working title) explores connections between the deep bedrock beneath the Germany-Czech Republic-Poland border triangle and the universe – between below and above. In the future, gravitational waves – tiny distortions of spacetime that can be detected using highly sensitive detectors and provide insights into the most distant events in the cosmos – are to be measured within the region’s massive granite massif. The exceptional geological stability and seismic tranquility of the Lusatian granite create ideal conditions for this. Between the rock beneath our feet and the most distant regions of the universe, a fascinating space for artistic exploration opens up. Starting Point One starting point for the exhibition is a profound transformation taking place in the region. As part of the structural change following the phase-out of lignite mining, the German Center for Astrophysics (Deutsches Zentrum für Asrtophysic – DZA) is being established in Lusatia. New research infrastructures for astrophysics are being developed here, including the Low Seismic Lab, which is to be built approximately 200 meters deep within the Lusatian granite massif. The rock’s exceptional seismic stillness creates ideal conditions for high-precision measurements and the development of the next generation of gravitational wave detectors. At the Görlitz Research Campus, astronomical observational data will be analyzed, simulations developed, and methods of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applied. The focus is on questions regarding the origin and evolution of the universe, the measurement of gravitational waves, and the analysis and interpretation of complex astronomical data. At the same time, scientific developments in the region open up new perspectives that can be explored artistically in a variety of ways. The focus here is not solely on astrophysical phenomena, but also on questions regarding the relationship between landscape and the universe, between geological depth and cosmic distance, between materiality and data, and between technical measurement and human perception. Likewise, ideas about the origin of the world, time and the future, visibility and invisibility, scientific and social transformations, or pop- cultural, philosophical, and science-fiction narratives about Earth and the cosmos can serve as starting points for artistic works. The group exhibition brings together distinct artistic positions, thereby opening up diverse perspectives on the exhibition’s theme. Participation The open call is open to professional artists working in all disciplines of contemporary art who live or work primarily in Germany, Poland, or the Czech Republic. Individual artists and collectives are equally welcome. We are seeking artistic projects in all media – including drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, video, sound, performance, painting, as well as cross-media and experimental formats. The decisive factors are artistic quality and relevance to the exhibition’s thematic framework. We welcome existing works, concepts for new works to be created in time for the exhibition, as well as site-specific projects developed in Görlitz and/or in collaboration with the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) We are happy to assist artists who wish to incorporate the DZA’s scientific context more deeply into their work by connecting them with researchers. Depending on the project, we can facilitate access to insights into research processes, discussions with scientists, and selected materials and datasets—such as seismic measurements, sound recordings, or visualizations. The scope and form of the collaboration will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on the respective artistic questions and the DZA’s capabilities. Collaboration with the DZA is expressly an offer and not a prerequisite for applying. General Conditions The selection of artistic contributions and the curatorial organization of the group exhibition will be carried out by the team at the Kunsthalle Görlitz. As a volunteer-run association, we would like to note that approval of the requested project grant is currently pending. There’s a gym and a climbing wall inside, and outside there’s a football field and bicycles to borrow. It’s also possible to use a shared car. The house hosts various dance and music events and festivals, in which it is possible to participate. Some are free, some have a participating fee. The Hub Feenix Artist Residency runs annually from April through December, with a winter break January to March. Artists typically stay for 1–3 months, and we recommend a minimum of 2 months to fully settle into the rhythm of life here. Accommodation The artists stay in about 15m2 private bedrooms and share the kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities. There´s also a washing machine in the residency area. In addition, the building has several inviting and inspiring shared spaces, lounges and a co-working space. We have a limited amount of bedrooms with an own toilet. If you would like one, the extra cost is 50€/a month. For a room with an own bathroom and shower the extra cost is 100€/a month. Aviário Studio Multidisciplinary Residency Winter/Spring 2026-27 Deadline: 20 Aug 2026 Country: Portugal An art residency provides the technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas and try new approaches. It is a moment that promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and consequently the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Aviário Studio Art Residency aims to promote exploration and production in the Visual Arts. Artists can develop projects using a medium or a combination of technologies. Aviário Studio is an artist-run space with workshops equipped to develop projects on Printmaking, Ceramics, Wood, Metal, Sculpture, Installation, Drawing, Painting, Photography and Bookbinding. The program is customized according to the participating artist’s goals regarding duration, outcome and focus. We offer the conditions to test possibilities and materialize ideas. On one hand, it can be a moment of transition, more connected to experimentation and research; on the other hand, it can be the point of consolidation of a project translated into the production of a new body of work. Duration of residency The duration of the residency can be 2 weeks up till 6 months. Accommodation You are free to decide if you want to stay at Aviário Studio’s accommodations or search for a place on your own. Aviário Studio has a guest house in the center of Ferreira do Zêzere and 2 km away from the studio (20min walk). If you decide to stay at Aviário Studio’s accommodations, you will be living in a shared house. The house is on the ground floor, and has one living room, an equipped kitchen, one bathroom, one toilet, three bedrooms, and outside space. There is free wi-fi at the house. All residents are responsible for their own bed-making, and for maintaining a clean and quiet house environment. A work that is mixed media/collage must use at least 80% water-based media in conjunction with other media, such as pastel, ink, crayon, printed collage papers, and found papers. These "other media" may not be the dominant element. 3-dimensional found objects may be incorporated, but may not be the dominant element. Digital art will NOT be accepted. - Acceptable water media includes: transparent watercolor, gouache, water soluble ink, acrylic, casein, and egg tempera. - Any questions on acceptable media should be discussed with the Exhibition Coordinator, Heidi Darley, prior to entry submission. - Size of work: Unframed image may be no smaller than 100 square inches and no larger than 22 x 30".- To determine eligible size, multiply height by width. Masaha Residency Cycle 12 Deadline: 22 Aug 2026 Country: Saudi Arabia About Misk Art Residencies  Misk Art Residencies aims to support artistic development and practice by promoting the possibilities of meaningful exchange between the local community and the global cultural landscape.  The Masaha Residency is designed to cultivate the art sector by facilitating discourse, research, and experimentation around themes that concern the local community.    Theme: What Remains in the Crossing  This cycle invites artists to examine what experience becomes when it passes through the tools we use to create, translate, and share it, and what, in that process, changes.  Digital tools have reshaped how we form and communicate experience. A story gains reach through a platform, but loses something in tone. A place captured on camera is not the same as a place lived in. A feeling, once processed and shared, may circulate widely while growing distant from its source.   The digital is no longer separate from lived experience. It is one of the ways experience is shaped and expressed, and yet every act of translation changes something. The studio and the workshops are integrated in a micro wool spinning mill focusing on transferring local wool into yarn and carded wool. K12 is a charming old house, with a cozy atmosphere and creative milieu, offering our residents a warm and inspiring environment to relax and rejuvenate after a day’s work. Røde Kro is a house run by a small local socio-economic café and hotel. In both accommodations there are rooms for three residents in single rooms, there are shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Through our residency program, participants have access to dedicated studio space, where you can engage with like-minded individuals (we aim to having 3-5 residents at the same time), exchange ideas, and gain new perspectives. You have access to the studio all week days and hours, so that you can plan your work in the way that suits you the best. Please note that technicians will not be leading workshops. The virtual residency will involve daily live video lectures with international death care and funeral industry workers, historians, biologists and artists presenting research about a range of death related topics, one tethered international field trip in a graveyard near you and many short one on one meetings with artists who make art about death around the world. PRESENTATION OF ACCEPTED WORK - All accepted artworks must arrive ready for installation. All 2D works must be properly matted, backed and under glass or plexi-glass and framed with hardware (screw eyes or D-rings) and wires securely attached to the back strong enough to hold the weight of the piece. (NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS, clips or plastic poster frames will be accepted.) Works not wired will not be accepted. All art must be signed, dated and labelled. - Glass or plexi-glass must be clean (inside and out), unscratched. - Frames must be in good condition (no scratches or loose corners). - Mats must be clean and smoothly cut with no warping. - Paintings on canvas must be appropriately presented: framed, or painted on the outside edges of “museum wrapped” canvas with no visible staples. - All entries must either have a sale price or be marked not for sale (NFS) and include a price for insurance value. - The Gallery Director reserves the right to disqualify any work that is significantly different from the submitted image including: artworks that are a different size than stated on the application, artworks that do not show the quality represented by the submitted image, and artworks that arrive damaged. - Wasmer Gallery staff will use all reasonable care in handling works of art and will not be held responsible for artwork that is damaged due to improper mounting or framing, or is unstable. - Work not properly presented will not be exhibited. MEDIA, SIZE AND WEIGHT LIMITATIONS 2D ARTWORK size (including mat and the frame) must be no larger than 30” X 40”. WORKS IN A SERIES Will be judged as one work which must be no larger than 30” X40” combined and must not consist of any more than six (2) pieces. Please include the numbers in the series as part of the file name. FREESTANDING SCULPTURE: must not exceed 40 pounds in weight.  • Painting: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, encaustic • Works on Paper: Drawing, printmaking, charcoal, chalk, pastels, pencil, wax, crayons, inks and collage. • Photography: Traditional, Digital prints, Computer Enhanced • Mixed Media: Two or more artistic media, that are combined in a single composition • Sculpture: Including wood, metal, stone, glass, mosaics, ceramics, fiber and recycled materials. All vessels and sculptures must be hand-built by artist. • Glass: All glass pieces must be hand blown or hand cut and fused by artist. • Fiber: Fine Art Weaving, Quilting, Soft Sculpture. The juror will only review online entries. At no time will the juror have access to artists’ personal information. Notification of the juror’s results will be sent in an email on Tuesday, September , 2026. Please make sure to provide a valid email address when registering. 1. Members of the Contemporary Performance Network receive Strategy Coach Notes, an extensive guide that analyzes every application question, explains reviewer priorities, identifies common weaknesses, and shows how to build a proposal specifically aligned with CPR’s residency model instead of relying on general grant-writing advice. About the CPR Artist-in-Residence CPR’s Artist-in-Residence Program supports artists whose work expands contemporary performance through experimentation, embodiment, interdisciplinary practice, and artistic risk. Rather than funding the completion of a finished production, the residency focuses on artistic inquiry and sustained research over an entire year. Six artists will form a cohort that shares dialogue, resources, and opportunities throughout the residency cycle. The residency combines rehearsal support with curated public programming. Artists develop work while participating in CPR’s OPEN LAB and OPEN AiR series, formats designed around experimentation, conversation, workshops, and works-in-progress. Curatorial feedback, production resources, and peer exchange remain active throughout the year, encouraging artists to continually refine ideas through public engagement rather than waiting until a completed project.
