Open Call for SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER 2026_Ecovillage – Spain_Writing Residency Deadline: 22 Aug 2026 Country: Spain The REC.ON Art & Writing Residency invites writers, translators, journalists, visual artists, researchers, curators, and doctoral students seeking a peaceful and inspiring environment for focused creative work and reflection. The residency is located in the REC.ON ecovillage – a rural sustainable development project founded in 2019 in the village of Bolaimi, at the foothills of the Andalusian mountains. The clean air and mountain silence foster clarity of mind and imagination. Residents live and work in close contact with nature, local culture, and the international community. Participants live in a restored rural co-living house with access to workspace both indoors and at the foot of the mountains – in dedicated spaces: a garden, a treehouse platform, and more. Duration of residency We accept applications all year round! • Residency length: 4 to 6 weeks• Sessions: May– June 2026   Accommodation Coliving rooms: Single or double rooms Common spaces: living room, fully equipped kitchen with kitchen with fireplace, bathroom, toillet Price included: Stay at Art Residence Access to REC.ON Gallery on site, exhibition and co-working space, shared with other residents Access to the workshop space (arranged individually) Morning coffee + homemade breakfast (6 x week) Accommodation in a 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom Access to common areas (equipped kitchen, living room, chillout areas and art installations on the grounds, permaculture garden) Residence bills, STARLINK wifi, free access to laundry facilities Visit to the historic city of Velez Rubio, sightseeing, local mercado and cultural attractions Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Desks, easels, spaces, and installations—a platform in a tree and in a bio garden for creating and writing. An on-site art gallery—a space for collective work and exhibitions. A studio for painting, adapted to creativity and inspiration, Starlink Wi-Fi. Delicious morning coffee & homemade bio breakfast.Studio / Workspace Workshop Space in the Art Gallery - adapted for creating or writing, a shared space, an individual space in nature - a tree house platform, and shaded areas with tables in the permaculture garden with a view of the Andalusian mountains.Fees and support 1 person /4 weeks / 700 EUR/ single room 2 persons/ 4 weeks/ 1288 EUR/ double room Expectations towards the artist Sharing your creativity—whether through writing or visual art—is an integral part of the residency. We approach it individually, respecting each artist’s unique practice. Residencies typically culminate in a presentation, exhibition, reading, or conversation, discussion.
