Join StartArt Residency in Northern Portugal for a practical and inspiring mural workshop designed for painters, illustrators, designers, and creatives who want to learn how to transform an idea into a large-scale artwork. No previous mural experience is required. The workshop is led by Isra Martínez Herrero, a Madrid-trained painter, illustrator, mural artist, and experienced teacher. Isra has created five large murals at StartArt and has already led mural and painting workshops at the residency. During the program, participants will learn the full mural-making process, including inspiration and references, sketching, colour studies, composition, wall preparation, scaling an image, transferring a design, painting techniques, and final adjustments. The workshop is open to complete beginners as well as artists who want to expand their practice into mural painting. Participants will work in a collaborative and supportive environment, with access to indoor studios, outdoor painting areas, materials, creative spaces, and guidance throughout the process. StartArt Residency is located beside the Homem River in Northern Portugal and has welcomed artists from more than 60 countries. The residency offers accommodation, three vegetarian meals per day, community activities, nature experiences, and time to connect with an international group of creatives.
