Reset. Recharge. Re-inspire. @ Cafe Tissardmine, Moroccan Sahara Deadline: 23 Sep 2026 Country: Morocco Cafe Tissardmine is a situated in a remote village in the Moroccan Sahara. We recognise the need for artists to recharge, share ideas, be inspired and to find a place to breathe. We run 6 residencies per year for a maximum of nine artists. The residency is not project based or requiring specific engagement or outcome but it is a place to find peace and new ideas. Artists from all disciplines are welcome to apply. As we are so remote we cannot offer internet access on a daily basis, but a walk up to “internet hill” or trip into town is possible to catch up on emails. A Residency at Cafe Tissardmine is also an opportunity to discover the richness of the Amazigh culture, their way of life, cooking and crafts. The cost of the residency covers full board, accommodation and some transportation. Duration of residency In 2026/7 we offer stays of three weeks. You must also factor in that it can take up to two days to get to us so you need to factor in travel time. Accommodation SINGLE ACCOMMODATION. We have four adobe bedrooms around a central courtyard. All have en-suite bathrooms. We have recently upgraded our other accommodation, what used to be the camp is now five detached adobe cabins built around a central garden. All have private bathrooms. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance All disciplines welcome but due to lack of reliable internet, research based projects are not practical. Occasionally we invite artists from a specific discipline but in general we prefer to have a mix of disciplines. You will need to bring everything you need to do your work with you. Shopping in our area is limited…no artist supplies, print cartridges, film or even much paper! There are better supplies in Marrakech and Fes…if you have special requirements and not sure where to get them, email me and we can advise. We do our best to assist you in realising your project. We have in the past made a pottery wheel, built a kiln and created art works with artisans in town. We encourage engagement with the village community, even if that just means having a cup of tea with them. This is not obilgatory, in the past some artists have set puzzles or games or cooked a meal as their contribution to the event. The group will comprise of approx. nine participants. ‘Writing’ is understood as creative and critical, and situated writing as an area of practice in its most expanded sense. In other words, writing that is experimental, inventive in its form, and responds to place.Studio / Workspace Studios / Workspaces are located in buildings that are situated a couple of minutes walk from each other, and from accommodation. They are recently renovated and include indoor and outdoor making spaces, and desk space. Internet throughout.Fees and support The Residency Programme is operated on a non-commercial cost-covering basis, and is financially supported by The Museum of Loss and Renewal in order to keep fees low. The residency fee is €1750 (Euro) paid by the resident. It includes the residency programme, accommodation, full board, collection/return to nearest train/bus station, accommodation in a variety of spacious rooms, excellent studio spaces. Double, twin and single bedrooms are available. Single bedrooms are allocated dependent on access needs. Catering (3 meals each day) includes ingredients that are mainly locally sourced and meals prepared by our cook. Vegan and vegetarian diets can be catered for. A deposit of 50% is payable within three weeks of being offered a place on the residency programme (non-refundable). The remaining balance is payable eight weeks in advance of the residency start date. In the event that cancellation is required, residents may cancel up to a minimum of six weeks prior to their residency start date. If a resident has to end the residency early due to personal circumstances, a refund cannot not be issued. You will be responsible for funding and organising your own travel, your own insurances and any visa requirements particular to your country of origin. Detailed travel information will be supplied (closest airports Naples, Rome), and collection/drop-off at a local train station will be arranged. We do not have external funding for this project, so regret that we are unable to offer assistance with fees, flights, production costs or other subsistence. Typically, successful applicants source funding by applying to their national arts funding bodies, personal fundraising, or through academic institutional support. We host an abstract exhibition each year and it is always much anticipated and very popular. Artists from across from across the UK are welcome to submit work. Work can be in any medium, except audio or video works. Wall mounted work can be any size or shape, but should take up no more than 70x70cm of wall space. Sculptural work should fit on a 30x30cm plinth, and should not exceed 50cm height x 30cm x 30cm. Artists are invited to submit 1 piece of work for the exhibition. You may provide a short description of no more than 100 words which will be displayed alongside the work.  Please note, the gallery is upstairs and there is no disabled access. DATES The exhibition will run from 27th October - 12th November 2026. There will be a private view event on Saturday 24th October 4-6 pm. Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit one piece of work each. It is free to apply with only successful artists paying a fee of £40 In return for your fee, you will get an event evening with free drinks which you are welcome to bring friends and family along to, invigilation throughout, and promotion of the exhibition online through social media posts. If you would like your work returning to you by post please be aware that we charge a fee which includes a £4 handling fee and the cost of Tracked 48 (no signature required) postage. Larger parcels can be returned through Parcelforce and will be sent Express 48. Couriers cannot collect your work from the gallery and we do not print postage labels. All work must be complete at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece or size submitted may be rejected. Nesting is an invitation to explore the instinctive human desire to create shelter, belonging and a sense of place. At the Narrows, surrounded by forest, and rhythms of the natural world, artists are invited to consider nesting as both a physical act and an emotional state. What do we gather around ourselves to feel safe? What do we carry with us? What do we leave behind? How do our relationships with place, landscape, family, memory shape who we become? Nesting can be intimate and personal, but it can also be ecological, political – it might explore refuge, migration, impermanence, architecture, motherhood or cycles of making and unmaking. It can be a place of retreat – or a place from which something emerges. Artists are encourage to work responsibly to the landscape, to the place and consider the materials, textures, sounds and forms found around them. Nesting is ultimately about creating a space to pause, gather, make and imagine what comes next. This is a self directed residency. No expectations of the artists, unless requested. Duration of residency From one week to the full month. Accommodation Artists share the main living area – living room, full kitchen and dining. Fronteer are holding an exhibition of postcard-sized work. We are looking for work featuring still life or objects. We would also welcome 3-D postcard-sized works which can stand on a plinth. Work should be on paper or card and should be A6/ postcard sized (10.5x14.8cm). Work must be unframed and will be hung using Command Strips. Artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work for the exhibition. Please complete a separate form for each submission. You may provide a short description of no more than 100 words, but this will not be displayed alongside the work.   You may submit up to 3 images of your piece of work. One image to show the whole piece and a further two images to show details if required. Please be clear about how your work hangs. UK-based artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit. How does one determine the value of a drawing when all works are offered at the same price? Where is the boundary between art and non-art? ANONYMOUS DRAWERS is an exhibition project that explores these questions in practice. The exhibition at the ZAK – Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin presents around 600 drawings by 600 international artists without revealing their names or the titles of their works. There are no thematic restrictions; the only limitation is the maximum format of A3 (29.7 × 42 cm). Each work is offered at a symbolic uniform price of €250. Of this, the artists receive €200, and the remaining amount finances future calls for proposals and exhibitions. The uniform price does not reflect the market value of a work. It serves as a conceptual placeholder for every conceivable price in the art market and for the possibility of art beyond economic hierarchies. Anonymity is maintained until a drawing is sold. As soon as a work is sold, it is removed from the exhibition wall. In its place, the artist’s name and place of origin are written on the wall. In this way, the overall appearance of the exhibition is constantly changing – and the exhibition itself becomes a work of art in progress.
