If you make work you would rather nobody touched, this isn't for you. Read no further. If the idea of someone else altering, wearing down or ending your finished piece sounds more interesting than upsetting, keep reading. We are looking for three artists working in sculpture to take part in a live, collaborative exhibition built around a single premise; you will not be the only person who touched your work. Who we’re looking for: 3 emerging sculptors, any material, any scale within reason, any relationship to destruction. We’re less interested in polished and more interested in artists who are genuinely curious about what it would feel like to lose control of a finished object, and to take control of someone else’s. How it begins: Bring us your interpretation of destruction in whatever material, scale, or form you work in. The work can be old, it can be brand new, that is up to you. This is the only brief for the object itself. What happens next The three selected artists will take over a venue as their studio across the 3 days. The public will be allowed in, emulating an open artist studio.  During that time, the artists will interact with, alter, and progressively destroy each other's pieces. Nobody else touches the work. The audience watches; they do not intervene. The show opens with all three works intact. It does not stay that way. By the time we reach the closing night Birthday Party, what remains will be the objects of destruction. You will be asked to destroy something you did not make. You will be asked to let go of something you did. This is not vandalism, and it's not a stunt. It is a live study of what we are calling collaborative destruction. And you will be taking part in a live study of detachment and consent in experimentation with the emotional weight of watching your own objects change in another’s hands, in real time, in public. What we are asking of you: - A willingness to be destroyed, not hypothetically. Your finished piece will be subject to alteration and possible complete destruction by the other two artists over the course of the show. - A willingness to destroy. You will also be asked to act on the other artists' work. This is not optional or symbolic; it is the central mechanic of this exhibition. - Full editorial control over your documentation. You will decide what you photograph, film, or record, if anything. Nobody is compiling an official record over your shoulder. We are, in part, asking what an archive looks like when the people inside it choose what survives. Whatever you want included in the Birthday Party’s display, it will be. You direct us, we execute. - OPTIONAL: A journal kept across the process. Not for publication, a private account of what this actually felt like, day to day. As your relationship to the objects (yours and theirs) shifts. Berlin Exhibition Call for Drawings Post date 26/09/2026 How does our perception change when we know nothing about the artist behind a work? How do we determine the value of a drawing when every work is offered at the same price? Where is the boundary between art and non-art? “Anonymous Drawings” is an exhibition project that puts these questions into practice. The exhibition at “ZAK – Zentrum für Aktuelle Kunst” in Berlin, Germany will feature around 600 drawings by 600 international artists, without revealing their names or the titles of the works. Every drawing is offered at a symbolic fixed price of €250. Of this amount, €200 goes directly to the artist, while the remainder helps fund future open calls and exhibitions. The fixed price does not reflect the market value of the work. Instead, it functions as a conceptual placeholder for any price imaginable within the art market. It symbolizes the possibility of art existing beyond economic hierarchies. Anonymity is maintained until a work is sold. Once sold, the drawing is removed from the wall, and the empty space is filled with the artist’s name and place of origin. Each exhibition is preceded by an international open call. There are no thematic requirements; the only limitation is a maximum format of A3 (29.7 x 42 cm). Biographical information is not requested. Selection is based solely on anonymized digital images. Only selected artists are asked to send their original drawings to Berlin. “Anonymous Drawings” is both a conceptual artwork and an exhibition platform: a collective artwork without hierarchies that continually rethinks the relationship between art, the market, and the public. Separate studios, several terraces, shared kitchen and bathrooms. The house is our home, where we welcome you, we are present during the programme and support your projects. We are on an experimental life project trying to be less a consumer and work together with nature to a desired extent. Natural setting of the warm-loving forest zone, also ongoing agricultural activity. Rural as being part of a village, but very close to the capital city of Las Palmas or the town of Santa Brígida, thus well connected also via roads and public transport. Duration of residency Minimum stay 2 weeks. (Preferably 4 or 8 weeks: 20 November-18 December OR 18 December-15 January OR the whole period). Accommodation The house is an ‘organic’ type – this means by local standards it had been used first as a series of caves, since unkown times, and the previous owners enlarged it step by step in the directions where the rocky hillside has permitted. The residency area starts above our apartment; consisting of five rooms. Each room is separate, they do not open from each other. A shared kitchen and various terraces are at your disposal, and there are two shared bathrooms. Project 14C Fellowship Residency Deadline: 28 Sep 2026 Country: United States Project 14C is ARTS 14C’s multidisciplinary residency program and creative community, bringing together visual artists, filmmakers, writers, designers, performers, musicians, and other creative practitioners from around the world. Unlike residencies built around retreat and isolation, Project 14C is intentionally urban and community-focused. Located in the Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City, just minutes from Manhattan, the program is designed for artists who want dedicated time and space to develop their practice while actively participating in a diverse, interdisciplinary creative community. Residents receive subsidized furnished live/work space, access to shared studios and production facilities, mentorship and professional development, and opportunities to connect with audiences and the wider arts communities of Jersey City and New York City. Facilities and programs include Gallery 14C, Recording Studio 14C, Dance Studio 14C, the 14C Textile Lab, Visual Arts Workroom, rehearsal space, public open studios, exhibitions, and other opportunities across ARTS 14C’s programs. The Artist Fellowship emphasizes both individual artistic development and community engagement. Residents are expected to engage with one another, participate in the life of Project 14C, and contribute to the community. Twelve-month fellows complete 36 hours of volunteer service during their residency. The program is open to artists across creative disciplines and is not organized around a specific artistic theme. Rather, its aim is to give artists the space, resources, professional support, and creative community they need to take risks, develop new work, build sustainable careers, and form meaningful connections across disciplines. Duration of residency 12 months (there is a 3-month option for international artists unable to get longer visas, and for artists with special circumstances) Accommodation Residents live in large furnished live/work loft studios within the Project 14C residency facility in Jersey City. Each loft includes two bathrooms, a kitchenette, dining area, and furnishings, and serves as both the artist’s accommodation and creative workspace. Artists may choose to live alone or share a loft with other artists, depending on the size of the studio. Artists wishing to share must apply with their chosen studio mates; ARTS 14C does not match residents with roommates. Shared amenities include community kitchens, laundry facilities on each floor, a gym, private resident lobby and elevators, and production/work spaces. The building is ADA compliant and pet friendly. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Project 14C welcomes artists and groups of artists across creative disciplines, including visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, music, film, fashion, architecture, design, and interdisciplinary practices. Residents have access to a range of shared creative facilities, including Recording Studio 14C, Dance Studio 14C, the 14C Textile Lab, Visual Arts Workroom, Writers Room, rehearsal space, Gallery 14C, and shared work and production studios. The residency also offers public open studio events, exhibition opportunities, mentorship, and professional development. Recording Studio 14C includes professional equipment and is overseen by producer Chris Sieg; residents receive extensive free studio time, with equipment access available to those trained in its use. The 14C Textile Lab supports textile, fashion, and fiber practices and is overseen by designer Tyler Neasloney. Each resident’s furnished live/work loft provides substantial space for both living and creative practice, and residents may also make use of shared production facilities. Because Project 14C is housed in a historic building, practices requiring open flame or toxic materials that produce fumes or dust cannot be accommodated.Studio / Workspace Each resident has a large live/work loft studio, ranging from approximately 840 to 1,504 sq ft (78–140 sq m) with 10–12 ft ceilings. The loft serves as both the artist’s living accommodation and primary workspace. Studios may be private or shared, depending on the artist’s preference and the size of the space. Most accommodate one or two artists, with some suitable for up to four. Artists who wish to share must apply with their chosen studio mates; ARTS 14C does not match residents. Residents also have access to shared work and production spaces and specialized facilities, including the Visual Arts Workroom, Recording Studio 14C, Dance Studio 14C, Writers Room, rehearsal space, and 14C Textile Lab.Fees and support Residency fees are subsidized and vary according to the size of the live/work studio and the number of artists sharing the space. BigCi is an independent, artist run, not for profit artist residency program focusing on artists’ professional development and facilitating their projects. BigCi has been established and run by Rae Bolotin, a practicing artist, and Yuri Bolotin, environmentalist and wilderness explorer. No late entries will be considered.   Jennifer Miller (she/her) is an artist, arts advocate, and educator currently based in Des Moines, Iowa, at Mainframe Studio #461. Her fine arts career began with clay and ceramics, but it has expanded over the years to encompass papermaking, book arts, drawing, and community engaged public arts. Themes that inspire her body of work include history, mapping, literacy, solastalgia, place, phenology, and ecology. Jennifer holds an MFA in Ceramics (2000) and an MFA in Book Arts (2025), both from the University of Iowa. Artists will receive a notification e-mail by Monday, October 5 to give you the status of your submission(s). If you entered more than one piece, you will receive an e-mail for each entry seperately. The e-mail will let you know if the piece was selected for the exhibit or not and what the next steps are. Artwork must be delivered to the MU in ready-to-install condition, which means that pieces need to have considerations made for things like matting, framing, hanging mechanisms, stability for sculpture, and general presentation. Two-dimensional art (not on stretched canvas) must be framed and matting is highly recommended. Talk to your professor or look up information online about ways to mat and frame your artwork. We don't want you to blow your budget, but if you are able to step up from the cheapest frame, you will be happier with the outcome. Another option is to take it to a professional framer, however you will need to do this before you enter your piece in the exhibit, as most place take 2-3 weeks for that service. A secure hanging mechanism is requried, and we prefer a hanging wire.. Works on stretched canvas do not have to be framed, but the sides of the canvas do need to be finished (painted). A hanging wire (or D-rings for oversized works) is required. Fiber pieces meant to be hung on the wall must including casings and hanging rods. Any other artwork that is meant to be hung on the wall must have a secure hanging mechanism. 3D/sulptural works must be stable when freestanding. The MU Gallery will provide pedistals and has small display stands for jewelry. Apparel design should include a dress form provided by the artist but if you don't have access to one, contact us and we will try to assist in securing one for the exhibit. If a smaller piece is accepted (hat, accessory, etc.), we will provide a display case for the piece. Any accepted pieces that are not accurately depicted in the entry images may be rejected by the Gallery Coordinator at the time of the exhibit installation. The Gallery Coordinator may also refuse to accept or exhibit objects that are improperly prepared for display or pieces priced or valued above what the Memorial Union is willing to insure. If your artwork doesn't fit in the above categories or if you are unsure, we can talk about options for presentation in advance of the art delivery time. Accepted pieces may be delivered on Sunday, October 11 from 4-5pm or Monday, October 12 from 11am-1pm to the Memorial Union Art Gallery, Room 1568 on the first floor. The exhibit and reception are open to everyone, so we encourage artists to invite their family and friends.   The jurors will determine the Best of Show with an award of $200, 3 Merit Awards with an award of $150 and 2 Honorable Mentions with an award of $75. The Memorial Union Gallery Coordinator will choose a Purchase Award winner. This is a piece that will be purchased by the MU and added to our Permanent Art Collection. Only pieces listed for sale can be considered for the Purchase Award.   When entering your information on ArtCall, you will need to indicate whether artwork is for sale or not for sale. Pricing artwork can be challenging, so if you aren't sure consider the following: your experience and what comparable artists are charging, material costs, time spent creating the piece, and whether or not the piece is reproducible. For example, is this a photograph you can reprint or a one-of-a-kind piece? Remember that the Memorial Union receives a 20% commission on all art sales, so account for this in your final sale price. If your piece is not for sale, you must set list an insurance value. You can use the above to help determine the value of your piece. We encourage you not to undersell yourself, but the prices and insurance values must also be reasonable as our coverage is limited and at the discretion of the Memorial Union. Living with the Land Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Mexico Living with the Land is an international artist residency exploring the relationship between artistic practice, landscape, craftsmanship, and sustainable ways of living. Located in the mountains of Tapalpa, Jalisco, Mexico, Manchoza Art Residency hosts only one resident at a time, allowing each artist exclusive access to the accommodation, studios, and surrounding landscape. The residency emphasizes focused creative work, experimentation, and meaningful engagement with place. Rather than following a fixed program, each residency is developed collaboratively around the artist’s project and interests. Residents are encouraged to engage with the local environment, traditional crafts, and the rhythms of daily life while pursuing independent artistic research and production.
