Our accommodation is comfortable and thoughtfully arranged, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the Marsfjäll mountains—an area known for its peaceful atmosphere and inspiring natural landscape. During your stay, you will have your own private accommodation as well as a dedicated studio to support your work. Ricklundgården, located in Saxnäs, is a place for those seeking calm, quiet, and space to breathe. Each studio features large windows opening out toward the Marsfjäll mountains, inviting the landscape into your daily practice. Just outside your door, you will find countless paths for walking, skiing, or simply wandering into the mountains. The residency offers a rare opportunity to fully immerse yourself in your artistic practice, while drawing inspiration from the changing light, seasons, and the surrounding nature. We also warmly invite resident artists to take part in our art education initiative, EMMAS. The workshop is rooted in the local community of Vilhelmina Municipality and is primarily aimed at children and young people, while also welcoming adults and seniors. EMMAS is a space for sharing, learning, and exploring different art forms together. Here, we create opportunities for people to meet through creativity and to experience artistic and cultural activities that are often more accessible in larger cities. Duration of residency The duration of our residency programme is two or four weeks. Accommodation We have three residencies to offer, depending on your space requirement and artistic discipline. Each studio comes with its own bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and work studio. Wifi is available during your stay, the house is also equipped with a washing machine. Once a year, we will present curated exhibitions centered around specific themes. While these aim to feature the work of our residency artists, participation is not automatically ensured. Why is it requested to leave one artwork to the residency? We want to enrich the residency collection, in a way that your work can be displayed to the public also after your stay. Is there a specific theme I need to focus on during the residency? We don’t commission work on specific themes, but we encourage you to come to the residency with an idea of the project you’d like to pursue. Practical questions about your stay at the residence What’s the best way to reach Casanvito, and how can I get around if I don’t have a car? We provide all artists in residence with free pickup from Ancona Train Station (30 mins) or Ancona Airport (15 mins) at the date defined for the arrival and departure. Monte San Vito offers all essential services, and if you need to visit specific places or buy something special, we will provide you the contact of a couple of residents in the village that can be available to drive you at a very reasonable cost (10 euros per hour). If you want to be completely independent we suggest renting a car for the full stay (for 2/3 weeks rent you can get deals from 15 euros per day at the Ancona Airport). We can provide a bicycle, if needed. We really care about sustainability and we want to make sure that your stay is in line with this value. Can I come with my family or pet? We would love to welcome everyone to our residence, however we do not have the space to accommodate extra people besides the artists. Also animals are not allowed in the building. Will I have to share a studio? The residency period includes two artists per month, with your colleague you will share the common space of the residency (living room) and the studio: a large frescoed ballroom of 40 square meters. However, you will have your own bedroom and private bathroom. What is living in the Casasanvito like? Casasanvito is an old building and it has been recently renovated. It is rustic and charming but it is quite complex to heat, especially in the months from November to March, because of the high ceilings. It could also be a bit warm during the summer months. The temperature varies from 10 to 30 degrees based on the period. Please bring a sense of adventure with you! Where can I eat, and what kind of services does the village offer? The apartment includes a small kitchen with a sink, an air fryer, and a small induction cooktop with some basic pots, pans, dishes and glasses. Upon arrival, you’ll also find a welcome basket with fresh vegetables from local farmers. During your stay, you can choose to cook for yourself or take advantage of the nearby food options: Supermarket SuperCoal – 4m mins walk  Excalibur Pizzeria – 3 mins walk  Hostaria Elephant & Castle – Typical Marche cuisine – 3 mins walk  Gli Ulivi del Monte – fixed price menu of 15 or 18 euros – 10 mins walk La Centiena – Typical Marche cuisine – 25 mins walk  More groceries or restaurant options are available by car within 10 mins drive. In the village you can also find a tennis and soccer court, a Pharmacy and Post office, all at 3 mins walk. At the restaurant “Gli Ulivi del Monte” you can also enjoy the swimming pool for free if you have lunch there!  Please keep in mind that the residency is a unique opportunity to connect with the landscape and rhythm of the Marche region. Some small inconveniences may arise, but they are part of the charm of staying in an ancient village. We’ll do our best to make you feel at home — even if we are not a hotel. Who will I meet during the residency? Upon your arrival, Riccardo—the president of CasaSanvito and owner of the residency—will welcome you with lunch or dinner in his apartment, which is adjacent to the artist residency. Throughout your one-month stay, you’ll have the chance to share the experience with another artist, and we’ll do our best to connect you with the local community as much as possible. Our curator Marta Cereda will be in touch with you during the process and she will be your main point of contact. We’ll also aim to showcase your work through studio visits and public open days at the residency. Consider that Riccardo and Marta speak English, but the local community is more keen on speaking Italian, so consider this is part of the experience! Are there any accessibility issues when getting to the apartment? Casasanvito is a 1767 building and it has not been possible to build an elevator unfortunately. The bedrooms and the studio are located on the first floor of the Palazzo. Can I smoke in the apartment? Unfortunately it is not possible to smoke in the apartment, but there is a small balcony in the studio where you can have your smoking break with a wonderful view! Who will clean the apartment during my stay? We provide all the necessary tools for you to be fully independent, including cleaning supplies and a washing machine. The apartment will be professionally cleaned before your arrival and once again halfway through your one-month stay. Bed linen and towels will also be changed during the mid-stay cleaning. What are the rules of the residency? Casasanvito is located on the first floor of a residential building. Please note that there are quiet hours after 10 PM, and the apartment must be left in the same condition in which you found it. Further details will be provided upon your arrival. OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS / CURATORS! TOKYO BIENNANE 2027 “SOCIAL DIVE” To dive into Tokyo(the city) and engage deeply with society(people). Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Japan Art Project Creating Ten Sites for Cross-Border Encounters and Dialogue “Social Dive” is an art project in which artists immerse themselves in various neighborhoods across Tokyo to discover both the unique traditions held by local residents and the new values emerging there. For Tokyo Biennale 2027, we are undertaking the co-creation of spaces for cross-border encounters and dialogue, addressing the theme: “From ‘Me’ to ‘Us’.” To solicit proposals from around the world for this initiative, we are launching the Social Dive Open Call. The designated project sites encompass ten diverse locations that shape the character of Tokyo: a historic temple in the city center, a cutting-edge business district, a traditional neighborhood alley, a rare surviving small-scale wooden building, a bustling train station, and an entertainment venue. These are locations where the Tokyo Biennale has previously engaged in projects. Realizing art projects in such settings inevitably involves navigating various regulations, rules, technical requirements, and budgetary constraints. We invite proposals from artists and curators who are ready to overcome these challenges alongside us and bring these projects to fruition. The theme of Tokyo Biennale 2027: “From ‘Me’ to ‘Us’.” Today, the world is in an age of conflict and division. To avoid repeating the memories of war, violence, and exclusion, we must reexamine the wisdom and cultural resources that have been passed down across generations. Tokyo is a city that carries the memories of neighborhoods dating back to the Edo period. It has twice suffered great loss — through the Great Kanto Earthquake and the Second World War — and each time it was rebuilt through the strength of its citizens. At the same time, Tokyo is an international city where diverse people from around the world gather, and where different languages, memories, beliefs, wounds, and hopes intersect. Kenzaburō Ōe wrote: “I cannot live my life over again. But we can live our lives over again.”* One single “me” may not be able to build the future, or overcome the anxieties and divisions of the world. Yet when “me” encounters others and reconnects relationships, a new consciousness of “us” begins to emerge. It is there that the possibility of living anew can be found. Art projects engage with society as a form of cultural prescription, reconnecting people with people, people with places, and people with memories. When individual creativity and the creativity accumulated within the city resonate across time, a new creativity of “us” is born. Tokyo Biennale 2027 will open up the foundational cultures that lie within Tokyo, passing memories of the past on to the future, and becoming a place of practice for living anew not as “me,” but as “us,” in an age of division. Accommodation Accommodation in Tokyo Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Application Guidelines Eligibility： Open to artists, curators, researchers, collectives, and practitioners in related fields active both in Japan and abroad. Applications are accepted for both artwork production by artists and art project proposals by curators. Applications may be submitted by individuals or groups. Groups must designate a single representative. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. There are no restrictions regarding nationality, place of residence, or base of operations. Applicants must be able to participate in research, residency-based production, collaboration with relevant parties, and the presentation of outcomes in Tokyo. Eligible Art Projects： We are inviting proposals for art projects or artist-in-residence production plans for the 11 designated locations. Eligible projects are not merely exhibitions of existing works but must be developed through research, residency-based production, and engagement with people in Tokyo. A wide range of formats is accepted, including artwork creation, exhibitions, performances, video works, tours, workshops, participatory projects, research projects, and curatorial projects. Proposed art projects must be capable of being presented or exhibited in some form during the Tokyo Biennale 2027. Each applicant may submit only one project proposal. Relevance to the theme "From 'Me' to 'Us'"： The art project must respond to the Tokyo Biennale 2027 theme, "From 'Me' to 'Us'." It must take individual experiences, memories, bodies, perspectives, and inquiries as its starting point while opening itself up to others, local areas, society, the city, and communities. Rather than stopping at the expression of the individual "Me," the proposal must re-examine the nature of "Us"—including relationships and the public sphere—through dialogue, collaboration, empathy, friction, and coexistence. It must not treat the city of Tokyo merely as a venue for presentation but must engage with the people living there, as well as local history, culture, daily life, and social issues. The proposal must demonstrate originality, social relevance, an experimental spirit, and feasibility.Studio / Workspace About the Project Sites： The art project encompasses eleven sites, ranging from shrines, temples, and halls to business districts, back alleys, old wooden buildings, and entertainment spaces. Shrines, Temples, and Halls (Religious Facilities): ① Toeizan Kaneiji Temple, ② Yushima Seido Removed from the daily hustle and bustle, these sacred spaces have long served as places where people confront their inner selves—their personal reflections and prayers. At the same time, they are spaces where diverse people gather and offer repeated prayers, thereby shaping a sense of "us"—a community or society. In an era of increasing digitalization and individualization, this project seeks to use the power of art to rebuild the "deep connections with others" that are gradually being lost. Through the dialogue between artistic expression and visitors, we aim to gently dissolve the boundaries of the individual self and build a bridge toward a future where we live together. Business Districts: ③ Otemachi/Marunouchi/Yurakucho, ④ Kyobashi Business districts are lined with skyscrapers and defined by schedules that tick by minute-by-minute. While these are places where individuals can maximize their personal capabilities, they can also foster psychological distance between people. To help business professionals break free from a state of "isolated individuality" and regain a sense of belonging as members who shape the city together, this project uses art to create "moments to pause and intersect with others" amidst daily routines, transforming functional urban spaces into stages for warm empathy. Back Alleys: ⑤ Nihonbashi, ⑥ Yaesu Back alleys act like the capillaries of the city. Unlike the main thoroughfares—which serve as the functional "public stage"—these alleys retain a deeply personal atmosphere, imbued with the character of old buildings, outdoor AC units, and residents' potted plants. We seek art projects set in back alleys—spaces that foster human connection through their intimate scale and "hideaway" atmosphere—where chance visitors and long-time locals can cultivate a deep sense of shared empathy. Old Wooden Architecture: ⑦ Kanda These wooden structures stand quietly in the city center, having witnessed repeated earthquakes, wartime destruction, and rapid urban development. Their scarred pillars, soot-stained ceilings, and creaking floorboards are imbued with the lives and stories of the countless individuals who once inhabited them. We seek art projects that reimagine these buildings not merely as "relics of the past," but as "living media" that intersect with the memories of those living today. Station Space: ⑧ UENO Station Since opening in 1883, Ueno Station has served as the “Gateway to Tohoku,” connecting Tokyo with northeastern Japan and witnessing generations of departures and homecomings. The present station building was completed in 1932 following the Great Kanto Earthquake. It is distinguished by its imposing, symmetrical façade and spacious concourse with a high, open atrium. Shinkansen trains, conventional railways, and subway lines intersect across a multilayered spatial structure of ground-level, underground, and elevated spaces, bringing together diverse people, cultures, and memories. New art initiatives are also being developed to transform JR Ueno Station into a “Hub for Cultural Creation.” Entertainment Space: ⑨ Tokyo Dome City Tokyo Dome City is a rarity on the global stage—a massive entertainment complex located right in the heart of the city. It is an energetic district where concerts, sporting events, and attractions allow people to encounter the things they love and experience genuine excitement. We seek art projects that harness the myriad forms of "individual energy" found here and channel them into a collective force—evolving the area into a larger community ("us"). Shopping district: ⑩ Akihabara Electric Town Akihabara Electric Town developed from a postwar market for radio components, evolving over time into a center for home appliances, electronic parts, computers, games, anime, and idol culture. Large and small shops, multi-tenant buildings, narrow alleyways, elevated railway tracks, signs, and advertisements overlap to form a complex and chaotic urban landscape, where highly specialized commerce coexists with diverse communities. Internationally recognized as “AKIBA,” it attracts visitors from Japan and around the world as a global mecca for otaku culture. It is a district with a distinctive urban culture in which the real and virtual worlds of technology, desire and expression intersect. Wholesale District: ⑪ Bakurocho/Higashi-Kanda Bakurocho and Higashi-Kanda—the new hubs for the Tokyo Biennale—are located in the eastern part of central Tokyo, straddling the Nihonbashi district of Chuo Ward and the Kanda district of Chiyoda Ward. During the Edo period, the area flourished as a nexus where inns, commerce, and the flow of people and goods converged, driven by the bustle near Ryogoku Bridge and the traffic along major highways. In the modern era, it solidified its character as a wholesale district, accumulating a rich history of commerce and lifestyle culture. Prioritizing reciprocal and ethical relationships rather than unilaterally exploiting the region or community. Ensuring the art project is sensitive to the local history, culture, living environment, and social context. When utilizing public spaces, local facilities, commercial venues, historical buildings, or underutilized spaces, the plan must address safety, feasibility, accessibility, and consideration for the neighborhood. Giving due regard to the dignity, privacy, image rights, and personal information of participants and collaborators. Carefully addressing relationships with others and the nature of collaboration throughout the process of opening individual expression to society. Conditions regarding presentation of outcomes and documentation： Applicants must be able to publicly present or exhibit the art project or its outcomes during the Tokyo Biennale 2027. There are no restrictions on the format of the presentation; examples include exhibitions, events, workshops, tours, performances, talks, film screenings, online releases, or documentation displays. Applicants must be able to document the process of residency-based creation or research using media such as photography, video, audio, and text. They must be willing to make the process and outcomes publicly available as documentation, either during or after the event period, as necessary. Cooperation with Tokyo Biennale 2027’s public relations, documentation, archiving, and report production is required. Emphasis should be placed not only on the project’s final outcomes but also on the process of fostering relationships with others and the local community. The center is housed in the historic Siming District, a charming old neighbourhood that effortlessly blends local heritage with contemporary urban life. Within walking distance are numerous small restaurants, bustling markets, cosy pubs, and the serene Nanputuo Temple, all set against the backdrop of Xiamen University. More importantly, the area lies just steps from the coast, where the city’s traditional fishing harbour remains alive with activity. This enduring seafaring culture, combined with the narrow alleys and friendly community, gives the neighbourhood a distinct character that naturally draws creative people from diverse backgrounds. The exhibition space, approximately 70 square meters, is modest yet thoughtfully designed, providing an intimate setting for displaying sculptures, graphic works, and other visual art forms. CEAC’s annual exhibition calendar features ten to twelve shows, each presented by invited artists and residents, and is complemented by a rich program of lectures, workshops, festivals, and outdoor film screenings. Since 2010, the center has also organized large-scale group exhibitions Rolling Snowball in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Datong and Quanzhou, as well as internationally in Djupivogur, Iceland. MiSHŌ Residency supports context-responsive creative practices through direct engagement with Fujino’s local community and its unique cultural and natural landscape. Work can be at any stage: from open-ended projects and ongoing research to the development of an existing work or the early contemplation of a new one. Past projects reflect this openness: work by artists at MiSHŌ has included live music events, body movement performances, outdoor installations, exhibitions, and site-specific research projects built around local crafts, environment, and culinary traditions. SUMMER IN PATAGONIA Guided Training Residency in Printmaking Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Argentina A residency for learning or specializing in non toxic printmaking techniques aimed at those who want to discover a new medium or delve deeper into the field of non-toxic printmaking. We follow a personalized plan based on your previous knowledge and experience. The practice is structured from foundational principles to more complex techniques, allowing you to have an immersive experience during your stay. We offer training and specialization programs based on the selected techniques and course length. As a reference we can offer: – Basic technical initiation course (relief print, monotypes, white embossing) for 10 hours over 5 days – Etching and aquatint on metal plate with salt mordant for 12 hours over 5 days – Mokuhanga (woodblock printmaking with watercolours inks) for 20 hours over 5 days Jacquie Sullivan printing mokuhanga during her residency. ARTEMISTA Artist-in-Residency Programme Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Italy ARTEMISTA is a non-profit cultural association working in the fields of theatre, music, social projects, and environmental awareness education. It is immersed in the rural communities of Northern Italy, in the river Po Valley and the surrounding wine-growing hills of Oltrepò. ORIGIN AND LOCATION Founded in 2004 by artists from different disciplines, including music, theatre, photography, and visual arts, ARTEMISTA is based in Spessa at “Cascina Castello,” a farmhouse with buildings dating back to the XV centur,now transformed into a Cultural Centre for artistic productions and events, while maintaining some of its original farming activities. Despite its rural setting in the Lombardy region, the site is approximately one hour from Milan, Italy’s main economic and cultural hub, with easy access to Linate and Malpensa airports, Central Railway Station, the metro system, and major motorways. The surrounding landscape offers a particular natural setting where river, hills and mountains meet: you can enjoy walks along the Po river embankment open into views of the Alps to the north and the Apennines to the south, often accompanied by the characteristic morning mist rising from the water. RESIDENCY PROGRAMME Through its residency programme, ARTEMISTA hosts individuals and groups (up to 20 participants) with creative and original proposals, offering opportunities for: – research-based residencies, – production-based residencies, – interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral residencies. Participants can live and work at Cascina Castello, developing their individual projects and immersing themselves in the region’s creative rural atmosphere. NB Studio height has to be taken into consideration for jumps/acrobatics etc. REHEARSAL STUDIO 96 sqm. This studio is suitable for THEATRE and DANCE. (8 m. x 12 m. H 5 m.). Ideal space for preparing new productions and/or organizing residential seminars. RECORDING STUDIO - suitable for all kinds of compositions. When necessary the recording studio can utilize the Granary as an extended space for live recording. The Granary has extraordinary natural acoustics and can accommodate big ensembles and groups of musicians. Technical Information - Studios come supplied with: dance carpets, theatrical lights with dimmer and control unit, sound system with speakers and mixer. To secure a place in the programme, ARTEMISTA requires a 40% deposit, which is to be paid shortly after the Artist-in-Residence receives confirmation of acceptance. The remaining balance must be paid no later than one month before the participant’s arrival. Payment must be made by bank transfer. Discounts may be applied for longer stays (from 2 weeks onwards) and for group applications. Different participation fees may be applied to long-term co-housing and co-working projects. Artists-in-Residence are responsible for their own travel expenses, meals, and personal working materials. Use of the Recording Studio is available by reservation and is subject to an additional fee. Masterclass with Cristina Caprioli Sep 10, 2026 | Workshops TUNG| What is it that moves? Two days of exchange and collaborative work with Cristina Caprioli, choreographer and recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale, focusing on the precision, complexity and refinement of technique, and reflecting on a choreography that, starting from the body, becomes language, science and politics, in dialogue with contemporary reality. This reflection expands from dance to objects, from conditions to the world. The masterclass is part of Ten Calls – One Year of Candid Dancing, conceived and curated by Cristina Caprioli: an in-depth program dedicated to choreography, structured as a series of meetings, sessions, and events exploring its linguistic, scientific, and political implications, as well as its relationship to contemporary reality. Cristina Caprioli is one of the most established and internationally acclaimed choreographers on the Swedish dance scene. In the mid-1990s, she founded the independent organization Ccap, through which she produces performances, installations, films, objects, publications, and other choreographic works, while also leading long-term interdisciplinary research projects. Her choreographic practice is distinguished by precision, complexity, and a highly refined body technique. All of her productions challenge normative formats and the exchange economies of the performing arts sector. From 2008 to 2013, she taught choreographic composition at the DOCH School of Dance and Circus in Stockholm, where she developed methods and formats for artistic research. She has received numerous awards and grants and has played a significant role in shaping critical discourse in the fields of dance and choreography in Sweden. In 2024, she was awarded the Leone d’oro for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale Danza.
