ELIGIBILITY Submissions to the Annual International Exhibition are open to artists worldwide, both member and non-member working in water media on paper (Yupo and illustration board are permitted). We welcome those whose artistic practice is integral to their profession, as well as those who pursue it independently. This invitation expresses our appreciation for those who are devoted to the care and wellbeing of others. At Joya: AiR we understand that such work calls for a depth of empathy that reaches beyond kindness: the ability to meet vulnerability with respect, to remain attentive in difficult circumstances, and to offer reassurance when it is most needed. Many artists belong to this community, whether their artistic practice forms part of their profession or develops alongside it. Joya: berilo honours their contribution by offering time, space and hospitality in which to nurture their creative work. Within the landscape and community of Joya, the residency offers an opportunity to reflect, experiment and develop ideas, giving creative work the sustained attention that everyday responsibilities can make difficult to find. Artists are welcome to pursue work on any subject, with no expectation that their practice should address care or health. Joya: berilo celebrates the life of Beryl Beckmann, who lived to the age of one hundred. As a physiotherapist, she cared deeply about her community and the people she treated. She understood that their needs did not end when treatment did. She established and ran a charity for people recovering from stroke, bringing continued care, companionship and a sense of belonging to those whose UK National Health Service treatment had finished. We wish this award to carry forward something of her generosity and the quiet conviction with which she made care for others part of her life. In her spirit, this residency extends care and consideration to those who offer it to others, recognising and supporting the artistic lives of people whose work enriches their communities. Applications are welcomed from artists of all disciplines who currently work in the care or health sector. Applicants should provide details of their role and place of work, together with supporting evidence of their employment. They must hold a degree in the arts or humanities and demonstrate an active artistic practice through exhibitions, publications, performances or equivalent activity relevant to their discipline. The award offers a one-week residency at Joya: AiR, with the residency fee waived in full, providing time and space for creative work within its landscape and community. February Retreat 2027 – ARiR Guiniguada, Gran Canaria Deadline: 12 Nov 2026 Country: Spain Artist and Researcher in Residence programme, runs since 2019 in the Guiniguada valley of Gran Canaria, in the northern foothills, a long inhabited fertile area, not the touristic south. Separate studios, several terraces, shared kitchen and bathrooms. The house is our home, where we welcome you, we are present during the programme and support your projects. We are on an experimental life project trying to be less a consumer and work together with nature to a desired extent. Natural setting of the warm-loving forest zone, also ongoing agricultural activity. Rural as being part of a village, but very close to the capital city of Las Palmas or the town of Santa Brígida, thus well connected also via roads and public transport. Duration of residency Preferably 4 weeks (whole period). Minimum stay 2 weeks. Accommodation The house is an ‘organic’ type – this means by local standards it had been used first as a series of caves, since unkown times, and the previous owners enlarged it step by step in the directions where the rocky hillside has permitted. The residency area starts above our apartment; consisting of five rooms. Each room is separate, they do not open from each other. A shared kitchen and various terraces are at your disposal, and there are two shared bathrooms. Duration of residency 2 or 4 week residencies Accommodation The residency house includes two private studio-bedrooms (large and small) with private bathrooms and a fully equipped shared kitchen. UNXE SUR DIX is a dance performance project that explores incest culture as a structural and systemic phenomenon. Its aim is to give body and voice to a subject I consider essential, while offering a sensory experience. Looking especially for performers over 60 years old. Where: Théâtre de Vidy, Lausanne, Switzerland When: 28-29 November 2026 Deadline for applications: 14 November, 2026 Incest is both omnipresent and invisible in our societies. Invisible because it remains hidden, protected by a collective and institutional silence. Omnipresent because the data reveal a striking reality: according to a 2020 Ipsos survey conducted for the French association Face à l’inceste, more than one in ten people in France report having experienced incest. This represents approximately 6.8 million people in France. Behind these figures lie lives marked by profound trauma, often compounded by a lack of recognition, justice or support. In my artistic practice, I now feel the need to address these realities, not only to raise awareness but also to encourage collective reflection. My aim is to explore how our institutions, social practices and representations shape our perceptions and keep this subject in the shadows. The project seeks to question the mechanisms that make incest so difficult to name, listen to and fight against. I am looking to collaborate with a group of exactly 10 people (in reference to the statistics mentioned above). Who I am looking for: – People of all ages (18 and over), genders, backgrounds and nationalities. People over 60 are particularly encouraged to express their interest in taking part. – People with an advanced or proficient level of dance, or with substantial physical experience and the ability to memorise movement patterns in space. Depending on individual needs, the performance may include breaks and/or the option to sit on a chair. – People interested in performing in front of an audience and in supporting the message of the piece. – People available and committed to the rehearsal and performance dates. – People living in Lausanne or the surrounding area (some rehearsals will take place in half-day sessions, with corresponding pay, and we cannot cover accommodation, per diems and travel expenses). The program offers a workspace in Barcelona where artists and other professionals in the field of contemporary art can develop their practice. The ILLAPSE studio is located within the facilities of Lapse, where the resident will share common areas with four other artists. Residents are encouraged to give a public presentation of their work. Lapse welcomes proposals across a wide range of media and contemporary artistic practices. We are especially interested in innovative projects that prioritize interdisciplinary experimentation and the exchange of knowledge across fields and cultures.
