Hub Feenix Residency 2026 and 2027 Deadline: 26 Aug 2026 Country: Finland Hub Feenix Residency: The new non-profit center for creativity and well-being Hub Feenix has started an artist residency program. Focus on your work in an inspiring and uplifting environment. Enjoy stillness, nature and inspiring atmosphere in a lively and international cultural centre in the middle of nature! Concentration, refreshment and renewal: The former Meltola sanitarium, with its beautiful premises, has undergone a transformation into an inspiring community center. Hub Feenix offers a harmonious, beautiful and inspiring working environment. Here you experience the stillness and beauty of nature and the possibility to deeply concentrate on your work, but in the same time you can also enjoy meeting new wonderful people. The residency has wide opportunities for collaboration and learning new skills. Hub Feenix is full of spaces where the senses delight and the spirit is lifted. Therefore, the residency period at Hub Feenix can be both artistically productive and at the same time bring new vitality, inspiration and recreation. Please read artists experiences on our website. The peace and beauty of nature: Hub Feenix is located in the middle of beautiful nature. After walking less than 15 minutes through the forest and across the fields along beautiful little roads, you will reach a lake where you can go swimming in the summertime. You can go for walks and take bicycle rides. In the late summer and autumn the forests around Hub Feenix are full of berries and mushrooms to pick. Other possibilities: Wooden sauna in the peaceful back garden of Hub Feenix is heated about once a week, and everybody staying in Hub Feenix is welcome to join (we all wear swimsuits). There’s a gym and a climbing wall inside, and outside there’s a football field and bicycles to borrow. It’s also possible to use a shared car. The house hosts various dance and music events and festivals, in which it is possible to participate. Some are free, some have a participating fee. There are plenty of interesting places nearby to explore, such as the artist village Fiskars, the charming little town of Tammisaari and the castles of Mustio and Raasepori. Duration of residency The Hub Feenix Artist Residency runs annually from April through December, with a winter break January to March. Artists typically stay for 1–3 months, and we recommend a minimum of 2 months to fully settle into the rhythm of life here. Accommodation The artists stay in about 15m2 private bedrooms and share the kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities. There´s also a washing machine in the residency area. In addition, the building has several inviting and inspiring shared spaces, lounges and a co-working space. We have a limited amount of bedrooms with an own toilet. If you would like one, the extra cost is 50€/a month. For a room with an own bathroom and shower the extra cost is 100€/a month. Please mention this in your application, as there´s limited availability of rooms with private toilets/showers. The workshop facilities include printmaking, textile, ceramics, 300m2 professionally equipped wood workshop, 3D-printing workshop, sound recording studio and a music room. Filled with natural light and forest views, they offer a quiet place to focus. Think of them as blank canvases — spaces you can mould around your work. They offer the perfect environment for painters, illustrators, and visual artists to slow down and sink into their work.Fees and support The residency fees for 2026 and 2027: – Residency fees are €800 a month and include a private bedroom (15m²) with a dedicated studio and access to the Makerspace facilities. – During the cold season there will be some costs for extra heating with an electric radiator according to the artist own use Expectations towards the artist There is no expected outcome of the residency. The residency organizes monthly Meet the Artists afternoons, where the artists are able to share their work with each other and the community. The artists are also welcome to organise open studio events, concerts, installations or other events, agreed upon with the staff. They also have a possibility to exhibit their work in Hub Feenix gallery space. The residency coordinators, who are professional artists themselves, are available to help with possible collaborations or workshops. We expect the artists in residence to keep the common spaces in the residency wing (kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces) tidy, so that everyone can enjoy this very special time together. We also expect the artists to clean their bedroom and studio before leaving. Hub Feenix is a strictly vegetarian environment. We kindly ask our guests to respect this policy and to not bring or cook meat or fish on the premises. Alcohol is allowed in moderation and with consideration for others.
