Residency with a Glass Casting Technique Course – September-October 2026 Deadline: 15 Aug 2026 Country: Czech Republic At the beginning of the residency, participants will be introduced to the specific technique of kiln-cast glass sculpture—melting glass shards into custom-made molds. Residents will create a clay model, produce a negative mold, and fill it with glass for casting. The finished piece can then be further refined through grinding, polishing, or sandblasting. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire process and create their own glass sculpture under expert guidance in a fully equipped workshop. The residency is open to both experienced glassmakers and complete beginners. All materials are included. At the end of the residency, participants will leave with their finished artwork. Duration of residency 5-6 weeks Accommodation Accommodation is not provided by our institution. However, we can help with finding a suitable apartment / short-stay rental for the duration of the residency. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance The artist has access to a fully equipped space for the production of kiln-cast glass sculptures, slumped glass, grinding, polishing, and sandblasting of glass, as well as for the wet collodion photographic process and traditional photographic processes (Studio / Workspace Our association’s workshop is equipped with technologies and tools that enable us to carry out a wide range of artistic projects. Our equipment includes advanced tools for working with glass, as well as a photography studio and a darkroom specialized in tFees and support 10,000 CZK (€400) per week. The price includes the provision of all necessary materials (incl. glass). Expectations towards the artist We place no specific expectations on the artist. We fully respect that artistic processes take time and the residency duration may not be enough to finalize a project. As such, there is no obligation to produce any final outcomes. However, if the program is followed, the residency typically results in a finished cast sculpture that the artist can take home.
