Long-term Residency at Hub Feenix Deadline: 28 Aug 2026 Country: Finland A longer stay? Hub Feenix is not only an artist residency, but a creative community where people live throughout the year. It´s a space to create, reflect, and connect — with your work, your practice, and a global community of creators. This is an open call for you who would maybe like to stay longer than 1-3 months. For someone who would like to try out living in the Nordics, or maybe is even thinking about moving to Finland permanently. In Hub Feenix you could try it out. Not alone, but as a part of a supportive creative community. Hub Feenix Housed in a beautifully restored historic sanatorium, Hub Feenix blends old-world charm with modern amenities across a sprawling 15,000m² campus. We are a creative village where creativity and community life come together. Here, historic halls and forested surroundings meet bright studios, workshops, and shared lounges, all designed to support deep focus, hands-on experimentation, and collaboration. We’re approximately 1 hour from Helsinki by train or car (75km). The nearest town is Karjaa (Karis), with a 15 minute car or bus ride to the campus. Our address is Högbensvägen 30. Community Life Hub Feenix is home to five interconnected communities: artists, digital nomads, volunteers, full-time residents and staff. Each brings a different flow and perspective to village life. Artists and digital nomads contribute a global, creative energy, volunteers keep the space running, while the staff and full-time residents steward the building and actively shape its culture. On-site Amenities The village offers a range of shared amenities designed to support both focus and downtime. A dedicated movie room creates space for film nights. The music room invites spontaneous jam sessions. There’s an onsite gym with basic equipment and an indoor climbing wall for movement. A hair and healing salon for eco-friendy hair cuts and services like acupuncture and massages. And access to a shared manual car for local trips and adventures. These spaces aren’t just facilities – they’re extensions of the creative environment. Nature & Wellbeing Hub Feenix offers space to reset as well as create. Many artists build walks into their daily routine, using time outdoors to think through ideas. In winter, the landscape shifts with the nearby lake freezing for skating, and cross-country ski trails openup through the surrounding forest. Wellbeing is embedded in the setting. Duration of residency The Hub Feenix Artist Residency runs annually from April through December, with a winter break January to March. Artists typically stay for 1–3 months, and we recommend a minimum of 2 months to fully settle into the rhythm of life here. But if you are looking for a place to live maybe even a longer time, with access to specialized creative facilities, and a supportive environment that balances focused solitude with meaningful community, it could be that our Long-term Residency is exactly what you’re looking for. Please find out more here: https://residency.hubfeenix.fi/res-artist-long-term-stay Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Visual artists, illustrators, cartoon or animation artists, musicians, writers, designers, artisans, journalists, curators, translators etc are welcome to apply for a residency in Hub Feenix. The workshop facilities include printmaking, textile, ceramics, wood and metal workshop, 3D-printing and a sound recording studio. The workspaces have big windows and as they are on the 4th floor and we are on a hill, an open view over the forests. There are also very reasonable monthly fees for workshop facilities:  https://residency.hubfeenix.fi/creative-facilities    Expectations towards the artist From shared resources to mindful material use in studios, residents are encouraged to approach both their creative process and daily life with awareness. The campus itself reflects this mindset. Solar panels contribute to the energy that powers daily life. The community clothing closet encourages thoughtful consumption. And small acts, such as recycling, conserving energy, maintaining shared areas and plant-based meals help sustain the campus for everyone who passes through it. Living collectively means considering how we impact the space and each other. Hub Feenix is a strictly vegetarian environment. We kindly ask our guests to respect this policy and to not bring or cook meat or fish on the premises. Alcohol is allowed in moderation and with consideration for others.
