Artist residency in the Swedish High Coast Deadline: 31 Aug 2026 Country: Sweden Spend a residency period in the High Coast of Sweden. Nordingrå Konstby’s artist residency is open to all artists, of any discipline. The residency is self-funded and self-directed. Our accommodation is comfortable, set in the beautiful surroundings of Nordingrå, known for its long tradition and history of art. The residence is situated in the heart of a dynamic and growing art community. When staying at our residence you are allocated your own accommodation and work studio. When staying here in the summer, you’ll enjoy the long, bright days, vibrant nature and the magic of Nordingrå, known for its supposed 52 mountains, 52 villages and 52 lakes. From the Midsummer weekend Nordingrå Konstby and most of the High Coast opens up for summer, with cafés, restaurants, shops and exhibitions welcoming visitors and many ongoing nature activities. This is a time when many artists and art lovers visit us from Sweden and all over the world. This time of year is suitable if you wish to combine a work period with activities and social interaction. Our community is inspiring and close-knit, driven with kindness and a willingness to help each other. However, for the person who is in need of calm, quiet and peaceful surroundings, there is enough room on the premises for you to work in a tranquil mode and many places nearby for you to walk or hike to for a swim in a lake or an escape to a forest or the top of a nearby mountain. Our residency provides you with the unique opportunity to focus on your art, whilst taking inspiration from the breathtaking scenery of the renowned High Coast of Sweden. Our art village is an active work place for artists and artists’ organisations. In addition to your own studio, here, you will find a gallery, summer café, antiquarian bookstore, an art boutique and artists’ organisation with studios equipped for printmaking, letterpress, tufting, metal and an enamel studio. Duration of residency The duration of our residency programme is two or four weeks. Accommodation Your accommodation is situated in the main building in our art village. We have four residencies to offer, depending on your spatial needs and budget. Each studio comes with its own bedroom and work studio and there’s a shared kitchen and bathroom that you share with up to two other studios. Linen is provided and wifi is available during your stay, the house is also equipped with a washing machine. The residency is situated 5 km from a small community with a supermarket and pizza restaurant. The local bus stops directly outside the residency. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Our residency programme is open to artists of all disciplines. We will contact you prior to your arrival, to plan how best we can prepare your studio to suit your needs.Studio / Workspace Each studio is allocated its own workspace of up to 20 m2. Each studio is set up with a worktable, chair and lighting. We will contact you once your residency is booked to find out if you have any other requirements for the preparation of the workstudio before your stay.Fees and support The fees range from 2200 SEK (approximately €200) for a two week period in the smallest studio to 6600 SEK (approximately €590) for a four week period in the largest studio. Artists must secure their own funding. We will happily assist in the artist’s grant-seeking process by providing a letter of recommendation if need be. Expectations towards the artist At the end of the residency we invite you to hold a pop-up exhibition in our art boutique, open to the general public. This is a great opportunity for the artist to show the work that has been done during the residency and meet nearby and local artists, art lovers and friends of our community.
