Постоянный прием

RUC (Rural Contemporary)

‘In Simplicitate Libertas’ 1-Week UNESCO Site Discovery Deadline: 31 Jul 2026 Country: Italy RUC residency is focused on supporting artists’ development through reconnecting with nature and with the valley’s ancient traditions: the Camonica Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, is nestled high in the central Alps of Italy. It is renowned for its breath-taking glacial lakes and mountains, Roman archaeological sites, and most especially its prehistoric engravings carved in the rocks. RUC maintains a partnership with the Valle Camonica Center of Prehistoric Studies (Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici) for academic programs and studies on archaeology and history. In 2016, nearby Iseo lake was chosen by Christo for the installation of the ‘Floating Piers’ in its astonishing beautiful and dramatic landscape. ‘In Simplicitate Libertas’ is RUC’s 1 week residency retreat at Villa Amati during which a small group of international artists will experience the ancestral magic of rural life in a small community. During the stay, in addition to focused studio and en-plein air working time, artists will have the opportunity to take part in workshops and cultural trips to discover the main historical-artistic treasures of the area. Duration of residency The Residency sessions last one week, and artists may stay for a second week by prior arrangement. Calendar of currently open sessions for the 2026 season: July 14-21; July 23-30; August 5-12; August 25-Sept 1; Sept 3-10; Sept 22-29; Oct 1-8; Oct 15-22. About the Akademie Schloss Solitude Web Residency The Akademie Schloss Solitude Web Residency is an international online residency program that supports artists working with digital technologies and web-based artistic practices. Since its launch in 2016, the program has provided a platform for artists to develop projects specifically designed for the internet while encouraging critical engagement with digital culture, technology, and society. Rather than adapting existing work for online presentation, the residency supports projects conceived for the web as a creative and public space. Selected residents receive dedicated online infrastructure, technical support, and curatorial guidance while developing new work during the four-week residency. Web Residencies Call No. 22, “Ignore All Previous Instructions,” is curated by !Mediengruppe Bitnik and marks the program’s tenth anniversary. This edition examines the growing influence of digital platforms, surveillance technologies, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic systems. The curatorial framework encourages artists to develop projects that question dominant technological structures, explore alternative forms of communication, and experiment with methods that interrupt or reimagine existing digital systems. The organizers welcome proposals from across artistic disciplines, provided they engage meaningfully with web-based practice and the themes of the call. What Is Offered - €1,200 grant - Four-week online residency - Dedicated microsite for project development and publication - Support from a web designer or UX designer - Programmer support for project implementation - Individual meetings with the curators - Group sessions with fellow Web Residents and Solitude fellows - Online presentation of the completed project - Potential participation in future offline or hybrid public programming Who Should Apply This opportunity is intended for artists whose practice engages with digital technologies, internet culture, networked communication, or web-based artistic production. The call welcomes artists from the international digital scene alongside practitioners from any discipline who use the web as an artistic medium or research environment. Individuals, collectives, associations, and initiatives are eligible to apply. Applicants should propose projects that respond directly to the curatorial framework while demonstrating a clear understanding of how the work will function within an online environment. Since each selected project receives a dedicated microsite and technical support, proposals should be designed for web presentation rather than simply documenting work created elsewhere. Applicants must also be available online throughout the four-week residency. Akademie Schloss Solitude Web Residency Timeline Application Opens: 7 July 2026 Application Deadline: 7 August 2026, 6:00 PM CET Optional Online Coding Workshop: 17 September 2026 Residency Period: 22 September to 22 October 2026 Project Launch: October or November 2026 Notification: Applicants are expected to be informed beginning in September 2026. Why The Akademie Schloss Solitude Web Residency Matters The Akademie Schloss Solitude Web Residency offers artists an opportunity to develop work specifically for an online environment while working within a clearly defined curatorial framework. The combination of financial support, technical assistance, and dedicated web infrastructure makes the residency particularly valuable for artists whose practice relies on digital platforms, experimental media, or networked participation. Rather than emphasizing production at a physical site, the program focuses on developing projects that exist on the web and engage audiences through digital technologies. The 2026 call is especially relevant for artists investigating artificial intelligence, platform capitalism, surveillance, algorithmic systems, online communication, and internet culture. Its emphasis on experimentation encourages applicants to propose projects that critically examine contemporary technological systems while exploring new artistic methods for working online.
