Hôtel Sainte Valière Autumn residency Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: France The Hôtel Sainte Valière is a not-for-profit centre for creative and cultural output and exchange, housed in a historic building in a small village amongst the vines in the south of France. We propose self-directed residencies for artists, particularly in the domains of literature, music and the visual arts. The Hôtel welcomes artists for stays of one to six weeks, from May until October. We have two remaining rooms available for two weeks in October. The purpose of our residency is to allow you to fully concentrate on your work, at the rhythm which suits you best. It is ideally suited to writing, drawing, painting, composing, researching and exploring. We are a not-for-profit organisation and artists fund their own stays. 2026 Autumn rates are 500 € per week. We are very happy to assist artists in obtaining grants to fund their residencies. Hôtel Sainte Valière offers its residents large, comfortable, luminous rooms with dedicated workspaces, views and private bathrooms, and an atmosphere outside of time. One can also work in the library, drawing room, garden, or en plein air. There are electric bicycles and an automatic car at your disposal, and many wonderful places to visit close by. The residency is self-catering, but there are many nice affordable restaurants nearby . No outcomes are required, but we will happily organise events (readings /exhibitions/ concerts) to showcase your work. We host regular events to allow an exchange between people from the village and artists in residence, who are welcome to present their work in this informal and joyful context. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We do not provide mentorship or training. Equipment is basic, easels for painters, a piano and various other instruments for musicians, a high quality projector.Studio / Workspace Private workspace in your room, shared library, two downstairs living rooms (one of which we use as a painting studio), many lovely spots to sit and work in the garden.Fees and support 2026 Autumn rates are 500 € per week per room. Surcharge 25% if you would like to bring a partner. Expectations towards the artist No outcomes are required, however artists are very welcome to present their work to the village at our regular events. We are happy to offer translation services – print and spoken – wherever needed. We organise and publicise the event, every now and then a journalist will cover it for the local newspapers.
