Images by contributing visual artists accompany poems, essays, and other creative nonfiction from authors who have written letters to their fear foods—foods and drinks that trigger intense anxiety, guilt, panic, or distress. Together, these images and texts offer hope, affirm personal sovereignty, and provide companionship to others on their recovery journeys. We invite visual artists working in 2D formats, including photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, digital/new media, and mixed media, to submit images that explore eating disorder recovery, fear foods, compassion, community, bodily autonomy, or related experiences. Your work does not need to depict food literally. We welcome work that approaches these themes directly, metaphorically, abstractly, or indirectly. Please use your project statement to explain how your work engages with the themes of Dear Fear. We welcome both new and previously created work, including work that has been exhibited or published elsewhere. We cannot accept work produced by artificial intelligence (AI). Artists may submit up to five individual works and/or images from a single series. Posted on: 9/11/26, 3:09 PM
