Kaleidoscope Call for Art Entry Deadline: Dec 5, 2026, 12:30:00 AM Eligibility: Local Entry Fee: 25.00 Virginia … A Members Only Call for Art Color is one of the most powerful tools an artist possesses. It can set a mood, awaken a memory, create movement, express identity, or completely transform the way we see an ordinary subject. From the softest atmospheric tones to the most electric combinations, color speaks before a single story is told. Kaleidoscope invites ShenArts members to explore the endless possibilities of color. Look to the changing light of the seasons, the unexpected palette of a familiar landscape, the colors of celebration and culture, or the hues connected to a particular place, feeling, or memory. Experiment with harmony and contrast, warmth and coolness, transparency and saturation—or allow one remarkable color to command the entire composition. Artists may work in abstraction, landscape, portraiture, still life, photography, mixed media, sculpture, or any other visual medium. Consider how color changes when placed beside another, how light alters what the eye perceives, or how a palette can communicate joy, calm, tension, nostalgia, energy, or wonder. Vibrant work is welcome, but color does not have to be loud; subtle, limited, monochromatic, and neutral palettes can be equally compelling. Like the turning fragments of a kaleidoscope, each artist brings a distinct combination of color, form, and perspective. Together, the selected works will create an immersive exhibition celebrating experimentation, individuality, and the remarkable creative range of the ShenArts community. Kaleidoscope is a members-only exhibition. Artists must be current ShenArts members to submit work for consideration. Submission Requirements - Up to 3 submissions - Artwork title(s), medium, size (unframed), year - Short artist statement (max 250 words) - Bio (max 150 words) Selection Process Works will be selected based on conceptual strength, relevance to the theme, and artistic quality. Submission Guidelines: Artwork must be ready to hang with D-rings only. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS OR EYEHOOKS. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT ACCEPT ARTWORK UPON ARRIVAL.   SUBMITTING PHOTOS: All photos must be cropped and labeled in the following format: ****(example: Van Gogh_Starry Night_oil painting)*** If they are not cropped, well lit and labeled properly, they will be disqualified.   Important Dates: Deadline: December 1 Notification Date: December 11 Art Drop off: January 11, 4 - 6 pm Opening Reception: February 5, 5 - 7 pm Pick Up: March 1, 4 - 6 pm Not a member yet? Art drop off and pickup will be at the ShenArts Gallery128 N Loudoun St. Winchester VA 22601 ShenArts handles all sales and promotion and takes a 30% commission of the retail price.
