Winter in the Swedish mountains Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Sweden Ricklundgårdens artist residency welcomes artists from all disciplines, offering a space to slow down, reflect, and create. Our accommodation is comfortable and thoughtfully arranged, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the Marsfjäll mountains—an area known for its peaceful atmosphere and inspiring natural landscape. During your stay, you will have your own private accommodation as well as a dedicated studio to support your work. Ricklundgården, located in Saxnäs, is a place for those seeking calm, quiet, and space to breathe. Each studio features large windows opening out toward the Marsfjäll mountains, inviting the landscape into your daily practice. Just outside your door, you will find countless paths for walking, skiing, or simply wandering into the mountains. The residency offers a rare opportunity to fully immerse yourself in your artistic practice, while drawing inspiration from the changing light, seasons, and the surrounding nature. We also warmly invite resident artists to take part in our art education initiative, EMMAS. The workshop is rooted in the local community of Vilhelmina Municipality and is primarily aimed at children and young people, while also welcoming adults and seniors. EMMAS is a space for sharing, learning, and exploring different art forms together. Here, we create opportunities for people to meet through creativity and to experience artistic and cultural activities that are often more accessible in larger cities. Duration of residency The duration of our residency programme is two or four weeks. Accommodation We have three residencies to offer, depending on your space requirement and artistic discipline. Each studio comes with its own bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and work studio. Wifi is available during your stay, the house is also equipped with a washing machine. Read more about our different Studio options here. The residency is situated on the village of Saxnäs, with a few hundred meter to a grocery store and restaurants. The local bus stops directly bellow the residency. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Our residency programme is open to artists of all disciplines.Studio / Workspace Each studio is allocated its own workspace of up to 20 m2. Each studio is set up with a worktable, chair and lighting.Fees and support The fees range from 3000 SEK (approximately €270) for a two week period to 5500 SEK (approximately €500) for a four week period. Artists must secure their own funding. Expectations towards the artist Ricklundgården has no performance requirements for our artists.We do how ever encourage you to hold a Artist talk at our Art education worskshop EMMAS, who´s open to the general public. This is a great opportunity for the artist to show the work that has been done during the residency and meet art lovers and friends of our community.
