BKN Winter & Autumn Open Call 2026 Deadline: 18 Nov 2026 Country: Sweden Björkö Konstnod (BKN) is a process-based artist‑run residency programme founded in 2020. It is based in two former schoolhouses in Stockholm’s northern archipelago, where the forest meets the sea. The residency centres on a collective experience that embraces the idea of “thinking together, learning together”. We host the residency year‑round, opening applications for each season three months in advance and closing them as the season begins. We accept applications on a rolling basis, by email, no later than one month before your arrival. Duration of residency The shortest residency period is 2 weeks and can last up to 3 months. Accommodation We have arranged bedrooms for residents in the smaller sleep/silent house, while the larger work/party house serves as a space for both individual and group activities. It includes a communal kitchen and living room for shared dinners and group activities, plus a library, a shower room, and four toilets. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome artists, researchers, writers, and curators working within the field of contemporary art. BKN curators or board members are always on-site, ready to help you develop your project.Studio / Workspace The residency offers four studios, two large and two smaller, suitable for a wide range of practices including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and installation. Facilities also include a wood and craft workshop, spaces for working with natural and organic materials, and resources for sound and video production (portable camera, green screen, projector, and recorder provided). In addition, the residency features an analogue photography darkroom and a dedicated area for sewing and weaving, equipped with a sewing machine and a 90 cm‑wide wooden loom.Fees and support We are happy to support applicants in their search for funding by assisting with grant and scholarship applications and providing letters of recommendation. BKN winter & autumn studios: group studio for art collectives – up to 5 members 1 week accommodation + large studio – 4000 – 6000 SEK ( depending on the number of participants ) + 100 SEK *X participants (membership fee for each member) 19/10-31/12 studio for duos 1 week accommodation + large studio – 3000 SEK + 200 SEK (membership fee) 18/10-31/12 solo artist studio 1 week accommodation + medium studio – 2000 SEK + 100 SEK (membership fee) 8/9-31/12 Expectations towards the artist We look forward to you becoming part of the art residency’s international community, which shares the idea of thinking and working together.
