It's delivered in partnership with Tate St Ives and The Borlase Smart John Wells Trust (Porthmeor Studios) for 2027. We are looking to support one awarded artist and a cohort of shortlisted artists. Who can apply: Living or working in the counties of Cornwall, Devon or Somerset. This enables the partners to fulfil remits about locality, place and the availability of arts opportunities in the South West region. You will be required to provide proof of address to be selected. You do not need to show proof in your application. Be committed to taking part in the programme provided. This will include access to a studio to make work, research, and access to local arts communities and to build a connection to Tate St Ives young people’s programme. For both the residency opportunity or to be part of our shortlisted cohort of 4 artists, you must: Be 18 years of age or over - Usually be based in the UK - You should be in the first five years of your career* (your CV or biography should reflect this) - You must not be in full time education - You must self-identify as disabled (we appreciate you may use another word or term, but the important thing is that you face disabling barriers) - You must have not been shortlisted in previous years of the Emergent programme. What you get: - A one-week residency in Cornwall from 18th January - 24th January 2027 - Opportunity to host a creative event for young people at Tate St Ives - Remote mentoring from Shape Arts - £3,000 bursary Deadline 01 November 2026
