BRAZZA 2027 residencies Deadline: 15 Nov 2026 Country: France The BRAŻŻA Residency is open to any individual or collective with a project in mind. We welcome writers, researchers, artists, painters and photographers. However due to the small number of rooms available, the applicants will be selected according to their project. During his/her stay, the resident is accompanied by the residency voluntary team to answer any questions, meet persons of interest, engage in the cultural scene. The Residency offers 2 different spaces. Firstly, an independent apartment with 2 bedrooms, a small kitchen, a bathroom and an individual entrance on the street. Secondly an art studio (30 sqm), with its mezzanine and private bathroom, located on the top floor of the main house of the owners. The Main house and the apartment date from 1880 and kept a lot of its charm. The residency’s specificity is a professional photo studio and dark room. Residents can attend photo workshops or print their own photographs. A bicycle is at the resident’s disposal. The BRAŻŻA Art Residency is located in the south West of France, between the towns of Cognac and Angoulême, in the country town of Châteauneuf sur Charente. This river town is at the center of an archipelago of hamlets and villages. Châteauneuf has all the amenities: a train station, a delicious food market 3 times a week, doctors and dentists, small and big supermarket and 4 cafés/bars! Additionally the municipality runs an art gallery where our residents can exhibit (if booked early enough). In summer, the open air swimming pool and the river beach makes it quite an attraction. The surroundings of Châteauneuf are fun to explore either on foot, on a bike or with the regional trains (on which you can put your bike for free). Duration of residency The residents can stay as much as they want between 1 week minimum and 4 weeks maximum. We welcome duos, collectives and guests. Accommodation BRAŻŻA offers 2 apartments. Each resident will stay alone in his or her appartment (but their guest is welcome). The first apartment has 1 bedroom and one office (1 bathroom, 1 kitchen, entrance on the street), with view on the village street center. The second apartment contains a 30sqm studio with a mezzanine serving as a big bedroom (1 bathroom, 1 kitchenette) and is located on the top floor. Two bedrooms can be added to the art studio if you are a collective, or if you agree to share the studio with the other residents. (To be discussed) All bedrooms have small double beds. The art collective can stay in both apartments if needed. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance All disciplines are welcome, including researchers. Photographers will find a professional and complete dark room (with 4 enlargers) and shooting studio on the ground of the residency, with a photo library. Our partnership with a literary Ngo in town gives access to books and discussions for lovers of French literature.Studio / Workspace The art studio is a luminous 30sqm atelier with 3 windows, wooden floor and a stove for the winter or to bake a pizza! it's located at the top floor of the 1880 Master house.Fees and support Le tarif total est de 385 € par semaine et par personne. Les invités sont les bienvenus (supplément de 150 € par semaine). Nous proposons deux dîners par semaine pour rencontrer les autres artistes de la maison. Les repas sont servis dans la maison principale, autour d’une grande table. Veuillez nous indiquer si vous êtes végétarien ou végétalien. Les résidents disposent d’une petite cuisine et d’un marché de produits frais trois fois par semaine. Si vous n’avez pas envie de cuisiner, vous trouverez de délicieuses boulangeries et divers restaurants en ville où déjeuner à prix raisonnable. Expectations towards the artist No expectation.
