Standart Residency Programme – Autumn 2026 Deadline: 15 Aug 2026 Country: Kyrgyzstan The Art-Residence of Bishkek School of Contemporary Art “Bulbul” was opened in 2023 in the village of Besh-Kungei, 15 minutes from Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The residency is curated by artist Syinat Zholdosheva and Ruslan Ismailov together with the Bishkek School of Contemporary Art (BiSCA). Bulbul is family-run residency where artists work in close contact with local culture, nature, and the everyday rhythms of family life. Spaces The residency is located on the second floor of a family house and has a separate entrance from the terrace. The resident area includes: – Two bedrooms (one with two beds, one single bed) – Shared bathroom – Shared kitchen – A terrace – A 50 m² studio with a separate entrance from the terrace The studio can host small events, performances, readings, and live presentations. The house has Wi-Fi, heating, and is suitable for long focused work periods. Standard Art-Residency Programme offers artists, researchers, writers, and cultural practitioners time and space for focused work, dialogue, and engagement with local culture and landscape. Residents stay in a quiet home environment and work in a shared studio overlooking the mountains.The standard residency includes accommodation, studio space, and basic curatoral support. What is Offered Residents have access to: – Fully equipped accommodation – Bright studio space with natural light – Basic art tools and equipment (and support with sourcing materials locally) – Curatorial support: conversations, feedback, documentation advice – Support with local logistics, introductions, and translation when needed – Fully equipped kitchen stocked with basic staples – Opportunities to engage with local artisans and communities – Option to organise a small public talk, workshop, or presentation (if desired) Not included: – Flights and transportation to/from Bishkek – Daily meals (except in the FeltCraft Programme) — although sometimes the family cooks local dishes together with residents or invites them for shared dinners – Personal insurance Duration of residency Residencies are self-funded and self-directed, and can last from 2 weeks to 2 months. Accommodation A private bedroom is provided near the studio. The bathroom and kitchen are shared with 1-2 other residents. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Easels, cutting mat, iron, piano, guitar, sewing machine and various other bits of equipment are available for use. This open call is for artists, musicians and makers.Studio / Workspace - Bright studio space with natural light- Basic art tools and equipment (and support with sourcing materials locally)Fees and support We have a special discount for Autumn 2026. The residency fee is 25 Euro a day.A 10% deposit is required after acceptance to confirm participation. This amount is deducted from the final cost.Bulbul is a family- and children-friendly residency. Companions, partners, and children are welcome.Applications are accepted year-round.
