Rural Creative Coliving in Northern Portugal in 2027 (year-round application) Deadline: 12 Oct 2026 Country: Portugal The Court of Cavalum is a place for people with creative projects to get immersed in their work, alongside other imaginative and crafty grafters. Whilst enjoying a largely outdoor lifestyle, you’ll be free to roam the hills, wander the forests and fall into your imaginary deep end. How to play? Start your adventure by travelling to The Court of Cavalum with a personal goal to make, create or explore something. You decide if you want to begin a project, persevere on an ongoing one or finally finish it. You create in any world you like; the Court has hosted travellers from fine art and music to tech and writing. You do it full-time or on the side whilst remote working. You say what it is you want to do and how much time you need to do it and together with the rest of the residents, we help each other stay on track. We’ll be around to support your endeavours to be bold, challenge yourself and take risks. And also encourage you to play, stay free and be inspired. Pick a studio to suit your working needs, choose a bedroom to dream up your ideas in, free up a chunk of time in your calendar and schedule a video call with us so we can hear about your project plan, book you in and get excited about supporting your journey! Accommodation Every creative mind needs a good nap from time to time, a resting period to percolate, to dream up the next idea, to ponder more subconsciously… Views over nature, wifi, double beds, desks, wardrobe, extra sheets and towels, dream mattresses and a decor from centuries past to keep you entertained in your own space. https://www.courtofcavalum.com/rooms Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We accommodate creatives of all shapes and sizes! Motivated artists from all fields who need a change of scenery. Independent creative geniuses and self-made entrepreneurs who crave community. Anyone on a mission to create. We have room to move in our rehearsal barn, equipment to record sound in our recording studio, a dark room to play with true colour on screens in our edit suite, space to think and write in our library, a platform to take flight from in our Attic, a projection room to view filmic work, a large drawing table in the coworking room and plenty of dreaming space in our garden for working outdoors….We provide some equipment such as a computer screen, projector, printer, desks, tables, chairs, yoga mats, recording equipment (with a deposit) ancient books (literally 300 years old!!) and access to tools and materials in our building workshop. We can help artists source materials from local craft shops, but we advise ordering online and getting delivered prior to your arrival. Mostly we provide positivity, accountability, excitement and care for your project. We will share our passion for rural living, Portuguese culture and communal living. Price covers 24 hr access to all coworking, studios and coliving spaces, food & drink from our well stocked pantry, wifi, bed linen and towels, laundry facilities, weekly cleaning and household items. Use of all studios and equipment if available. Possibility to book a studio for private use for extra fee to be discussed.Prices are discounted for longer stays. We believe the more time you can give to yourself, the better for you and the community. We encourage people to stay from a month to a complete season. 2 week stays are available with a 20% surcharge. https://www.courtofcavalum.com/the-price Expectations towards the artist We don’t require artists to present any of their work publicly, but we do encourage them to share their process with fellow residents, as well as demonstrate and learn skills amongst each other. We expect artists to keep on track towards the goal they set themselves prior to coming on residency, though we know things can change on route, which should be discussed and agreed upon during the weekly catch up sessions.We’d be happy to help organise public showings, encounters with local audiences or artists, or workshops, to be discussed during the video call.
