Korea’s largest contemporary dance festival is calling emerging international choreographers – Apply for MODAFE 2027 International Spark Place. Where: Seoul, South Korea When: 1-13 June 2027 Deadline for applications: 22 November 2026 * Schedule MODAFE 2027 will take place in Seoul, South Korea from June 1 to 13, 2027. The International Spark Place competitions will be held over three consecutive days within this period, with the exact dates to be announced in due course. Day 1: Setup (Rehearsal) Day 2: Competition Day 1 Day 3: Competition Day 2 *Awards –       International Spark Award – the winner of the International Spark Place (The winner will be invited to perform at the following year’s festival, with the support of production,  accommodation and per diem.) –       Artistic Director Award * Accommodation & per diem – The organizer will provide accommodation up to two rooms with twin beds for three nights. – All participants including choreographers and dancers will be provided with per diems in Korean Won. *Conditions 1)      Eligibility – Choreographers must be born between 1992 and 2007. – The competition is open to any contemporary dance style. – Only one work may be submitted per application. – Applicants (choreographers) must be of non-Korean nationality. (There are no nationality restrictions for dancers). – Applicants (choreographers) must be present at the competition. (An appearance in the choreography is not required) 2)      Application Process – The application form must be completed and submitted by 22 November 2026. – The choreographic work should be submitted as an Internet link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). – The video should contain only the choreography to be performed in the competition. – The duration of the performance must be between 13 and 15 minutes. 3)      Additional Requirements – The choreography must have been performed in public before. (Premieres will not be accepted). – Competitors must be available for performances on both the rehearsal day and the competition day. – Admission to the competition will be determined through a pre-jury evaluation of the submitted videos. – Pre-jury evaluation results will be announced via email between late December 2026 and early January 2027.
