Nagare Movement Training Sep 29, 2026 | Workshops Organic movement training exploring flow, breath, grounding and release to cultivate ease and wellbeing. Where: London, UK When: Thursday mornings Deadline for applications: ongoing Nagare (流れ) is the Japanese concept of flow—the flow of water, air, people, time and energy; a stream, current, passage or continuous process. Inspired by this idea, these ongoing movement training sessions explore how movement can flow through the body with greater freedom, ease and awareness. The training combines principles of energy flow from Tai Chi with elements of contemporary dance. Taking nature as a model, we work with the imagery and qualities of water and light, cultivating fluidity, softness and ease in the body. Breath is the primordial source of movement. The practice begins with the floating body, recalling our earliest experience in the womb—suspended and held in fluid, before our encounter with gravity and the ground. After birth, the body enters into a new relationship with weight, gravity and support. From floating to grounding, we explore heaviness and lightness, tension and relaxation, contraction and expansion, and the continuous interplay between holding and release. The practice also draws on the Japanese concept of Ma (間)—the space in-between. We create space within the body for breath, imagery and movement to pass through, exploring the relationship between the space inside and outside the body. Through regular practice, the sessions aim to release accumulated tension, develop fluidity and flexibility, ease physical discomfort, and cultivate calmness and wellbeing.
