The workshop will be led by Risa Maki, dancer with Jasmin Vardimon Company, offering participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the company’s distinctive physical language, repertoire and creative process. Jasmin Vardimon Company Founded in 1998, Jasmin Vardimon Company has been a leading force in British and international dance theatre for over 25 years. Jasmin Vardimon’s work is renowned for its powerful fusion of dance, theatre, physicality, characterisation, text and visual research, creating a highly distinctive choreographic and theatrical language. Jasmin Vardimon has been an Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells since 2006, and the company has established an international reputation through its productions, touring and commitment to professional development and dance education. The workshop with Risa Maki The workshop will be led by Risa Maki, dancer with Jasmin Vardimon Company. After completing the JV2 Professional Development Diploma 2021–2022, Risa Maki worked with Jasmin Vardimon on the revival of Tannhäuser at the Royal Opera House and joined Jasmin Vardimon Company in 2023. Her work with the company has included productions such as ALiCE, NOW and Pinocchio. During the five-hour session, participants will have the opportunity to experience the company’s approach from the inside, exploring contemporary technique, movement vocabulary, repertoire and creative methodologies. More than a masterclass, the workshop will be five hours of intensive movement, research and creative exploration: an opportunity for dancers to challenge their physicality, broaden their skills as performers.
