Sacramento Ballet seeks an SBSC Director to lead training, repertoire, and mentorship for its pre-professional program, bridging the School and main Company. Where: Sacramento, CA, USA When: December, 2026 Deadline for applications: November 3, 2026 The Sacramento Ballet Second Company (SBSC) Director is the main point of contact for the SBSC program, our pre-professional training company, and serves as the vital bridge between Sacramento Ballet and the School of Sacramento Ballet. This role shapes the training, repertoire, and performance opportunities of the dancers who may become Sacramento Ballet’s next generation of professional artists. The ideal candidate is a former professional dancer with deep classical and neo-classical repertoire experience, equally at home coaching in the studio and handling the practical work of running a program, from building rehearsal schedules and managing a budget, to identifying new performance opportunities, to mentoring dancers as they embark on their professional careers. The Role The SBSC Director reports to Sacramento Ballet’s Artistic Director and shares responsibility with the School Director as primary teacher and mentor to all SBSC dancers, including second company and trainees, coordinating closely with the School Director on school-related content and decisions. The role represents SBSC as its leader, planning and executing rehearsals, accompanying the company to all events and performances, choreographing for the second company (including the development of a family series performance annually) and serving as the public face of the program to dancers, families, and the community.
