Artist-in-Residence 2027 Deadline: 01 Jan 2027 Country: Netherlands agalab’s Artist-in-Residence (AiR) programme offers a space for research, experimentation and the development of new work. Artists have access to a wide range of printing techniques and technical expertise, a spacious workshop, non-toxic working methods, and a lively network of local and international artists, designers and makers. Our residencies are intended as a space for exchange as much as production — a place to test ideas, develop new processes and make connections across disciplines and practices. Duration of residency Minimum stay is 1 month, maximum stay is 3 months. Accommodation agalab offers six artist-in-residence places – two with accommodation and four without accommodation – that include 24/7 access to agalab’s facilities. These residencies are intended for artists with some experience in printmaking who are looking for a dedicated period of production and exchange. Residents become part of agalab’s growing artistic community, and are encouraged to exchange knowledge through shared activities. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We offer 24/7 workshop access for our residents. Our experienced department managers are available between Monday to Thursdays for guidance and technical support. agalab offers a wide range of classic and digital printing techniques, including silkscreen printing on paper and textiles, analogue photography, etching (drypoint and aquatint), Toyobo (polymer plate printing), lithography (stone printing), relief printing (linocut, woodcut and letterpress), and more. For an overview, see our Facilities page.Fees and support Residency (24/7 workshop access): €500,- Duo residency (24/7 workshop access): € 750,– Residency including accommodation: €1450,- Additional costs include: Material downpayment: €100 *Material costs are not included in the residency and should be covered by the artist. At the start of their residency, artists receive a cost sheet to document their expenses. At the end of the residency, the remaining amount is transferred back to the resident. Technical introduction: €55 /hour *This technical introduction is for artists with little or no experience in the techniques they are planning to use, requiring more than a standard introduction before starting work in our studio. Please inform us beforehand so we can make sure there will be a studio technician available with the right expertise. Expectations towards the artist The Artist-in-Residence programme is built around exchange and experimentation. We therefore ask all residents to actively contribute to the programme by: – Presenting work produced during the residency in the final exhibition at De Bouwput Gallery space. – Donating two prints created during the residency to the agalab archive, helping to build a lasting record of the residency programme and its participants. – Contributing to a collaborative and respectful working environment, and participating in the communal activities outlined in the residency schedule. Application information agalab offers an independent research and/or production residency for artists who already possess a basic knowledge of printmaking and are looking for the time, facilities and technical support to realise new work or research a specific printing question. Artists with no or little prior experience in printmaking are also welcome to apply for a residency at agalab. If you are new to a particular technique, introductory workshops can be arranged to help you get started. Please note that these workshops involve an additional cost. We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. We strongly encourage applicants to apply as early as possible as places are limited.
