MODELS as METAPHORS with Scotland’s MERZ Museum of Model Art Deadline: 01 Nov 2026 Country: United Kingdom The Museum of Model Art (MoMA) opened in 2019 alongside the MERZ gallery. This is our first residency programme dedicated to model making, in particular conceptual models that examine in miniature conflict, social engagement and artistic change. The Museum houses 1/24th scale models accessed via viewing slots, to encourage close and individual scrutiny. The residency over several months – with minimum one month stays – anticipates an exhibition of work by artists who reconstruct and project memory and resolution through models. Duration of residency From one month to three months. Accommodation The Museum shares self-contained accommodation with MERZ. This include the Bothy for one or two sharing. Tadpole with king sized bed and no 5 with two bedrooms and a ground floor studio. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance David Rushton's models are housed at the Museum of Model Art and he will be able to assist and support on techniques and from the Museum's store of model making materials.Studio / Workspace The Museum of Model Art can serves as a large workspace went not exhibiting sitting alongside ZIP studio. The No 5 cottage has a studio on the ground floor.Fees and support Fees are based on accommodation and range from £1400-1680 per twenty eight days. The fee includes exhibition and promotion for the final weekend of a stay with filming of work in progress (if appropriate). Expectations towards the artist Exhibitions, talks and workshops (with local kids) are options.
