Open Call — Theatre & Performance Residency in Mexico City Deadline: 30 Dec 2026 Country: Mexico Centro Cultural Casa Hechale February–March 2027 · Two- and four-week residencies Application deadline · 30 December 2026 Centro Cultural Casa Hechale invites playwrights, directors, performers, dramaturgs and interdisciplinary theatre-makers to develop work in Mexico City. The residency offers time to write, rehearse and experiment, whether you are beginning a script, revisiting a work in progress or exploring a question through movement, voice or performance. Casa Hechale is an independent cultural centre in a historic house in Santa María la Ribera. Artists live and work at the centre, with scheduled access to rehearsal and reading rooms and, by arrangement, the black box theatre. Each week, residents have two individual sessions: a project conversation with the Casa Hechale creative team and a session with an artistic adviser. These conversations respond to the artist’s work in progress, from questions about a script to choices about staging or performance. Residents may propose an informal reading, open rehearsal or work-in-progress sharing. A finished work or public presentation is optional. Who can apply The call is open internationally to artists at all career stages. Individual artists, duos and small collaborative teams are welcome. Projects may involve playwriting, dramaturgy, acting, directing, devised or solo performance, movement, or interdisciplinary work for the stage. Residents may work in English or Spanish. Fees cover accommodation, scheduled workspace, individual sessions and residency coordination. Actors for readings, technical personnel and production services can be discussed separately according to the project. Financial support A limited number of partial scholarships of up to USD 700 are available for four-week residents. Artists born in Latin America who currently live and maintain their practice in the region may be considered for additional support of up to USD 500. How to apply Submit a project proposal and relevant work samples, and indicate your preferred residency dates and an alternative.
