HOW TO AUDITION allows you to actively experience an audition day and navigate its challenges—all within a supportive, safe environment. Professional dancer and choreographer Julia Maria Koch (@juliamariakoch | juliamariakoch.com) will lead you through the workshop. Leveraging her extensive company experience, she offers practical requirements, insider tips, and constructive feedback. (For professional dancers, auditioning is unavoidable, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating. The more prepared you are, the more confident and secure you will feel during your performance.) What to expect: An audition with larger international companies typically includes a technique class (often contemporary ballet), company repertoire, a prepared solo, and an interview. While some auditions include intermediate selection steps (“sifting”), other choreographers prefer to see everything a dancer offers before making a final decision.
