Writing residency Deadline: 18 Oct 2026 Country: France BRAZZA is a self-run residency, located in the south-west of France. We welcome all artists, writers and researchers. The writer will stay within the apartment with its own entrance to the street. The garden is open to an all residents. Each week, we offer 2 dinners in the garden with all residents and us. The residency is situated at the heart of a small town by the river Charente. There are all basic necessities, a pharmacy, cafés, food market 4 times a day, a little supermarket, bakeries… and a thriving market on Saturday. The call for applications is open until the end of 2026. The deadlines on this website are updated in order to appear on the Res Artis website. Places are limited so the earlier one applies the more chance to find a place. Contact us for more info. Duration of residency Residents are welcome to stay 2 weeks and up to a month. Exceptionally we can accept a 1 week residency. Accommodation The writer occupies the apartment adjoining the main house, with independent access from the street. The apartment has two bedrooms with a lovely view of the street, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. The house dates from 1880 and has retained most of its original features, such as parquet floors, fireplaces, and large wooden windows. More information and photos about the residency on our website. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance The BRAZZA residency accepts artists, writers, photographers, performers and researchers. Although everyone is welcome, our equipment and possibilities are more suited for those interested in photography, painting, writing. we offer: - an exceptional photo studio + dark room - a luminous atelier (30sqm) under the roof - quiet rooms with big windows to write (with cafés, and a partnership with a local French book institution). A few words in French come handy to be able to venture in the little town, and if your French is good we can also organise an encounter with the public (if you wish). We are open for collaborations, workshops, public events.Studio / Workspace Writers have a room in their apartment to work peacefully with a view on the quiet street (see photo).Fees and support The total accommodation is 385€ per week per person. Guest are welcome (additioonal fee of 150e per week). We offer 2 diners per week to meet the other artists in the house. Diners are served in the main house, around a big table. Let us know if you are vegetarian or vegan. The residents have a little kitchen for themselves and a fresh food market three times a week. If you don’t fancy cooking, there are delicious bakeries and a variety of food places in town where to have lunch for a reasonable price. Expectations towards the artist No production is expected.  However, if the authors wishes, public readings can be organized at the GREC, if texts are in French or can be translated in French.
