Hako x Helsinki Residency Deadline: 30 Nov 2026 Country: Finland Hakoniemi Residency has expanded to Finland’s capital in response to public interest. The new residency is located in a charming design apartment in the very heart of Helsinki Design District – a vibrant area where Finnish design, art, and urban culture meet in a unique way. The inspiring atmosphere familiar from the original Hakoniemi Residency in North Karelia can now also be experienced in an urban setting. Guests are welcome to combine their stays at both residencies – from the buzz of the city to the peace of nature or vice versa. Duration of residency 1 week – 5 months Accommodation The 24 m² studio offers a comfortable and fully furnished space. The apartment is a compact studio designed to accommodate two guests and contains a sofa bed which serves as an additional sleeping option for up to two additional persons if needed. A small workspace is located beneath the loft bed, equipped with a desk and a drawer unit. The apartment also includes a selection of books on Finnish design and architecture. Please note that the space is best suited for clean, quiet work such as writing. The fully-equipped kitchen features a combi-oven, an induction stove and a dishwasher. The apartment also includes a private bathroom with a toilet and shower. There is a free of charge laundry room in the building. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Disciplines: We welcome applications from a wide range of creative professionals, including visual artists, musicians, writers, artisans, designers, researchers, and architects. Work equipment: The residency is a compact, recently renovated 24 m² studio apartment designed for quiet, indoor work. It features a dedicated workspace and high-speed internet. Please note that the space is not suitable for heavy industrial work or processes that produce significant noise, dust, or use strong chemicals. Assistance: This is a self-directed residency for independent professionals. There is no staff living on-site. While the residency provides a peaceful and inspiring environment for independent work, we offer support in connecting with local networks and navigating the city's cultural landscape.Studio / Workspace The residency offers a private studio apartment where the living and working spaces are combined. The dedicated workspace includes a desk and a chest of drawers, providing an organized environment for creative tasks. To inspire your stay, the studio features a curated selection of literature on Finnish architecture and design. The space is intended for "clean" indoor work, such as writing, researching, planning, or light artistic production. As it is a residential apartment, it is perfectly suited for professionals who value a quiet, private, and aesthetic atmosphere in the heart of the city.Fees and support 450 € one week, 700 € two weeks, 1 400 € per month HAKO HELSINKI STUDIO 24m2 Additional persons 150 € per week. Temporary visitors to be agreed separately. The 24 m² city residency includes sleeping arrangements for two people, making it suitable for joint applications (e.g., creative duos). There is also a sofa bed, allowing a maximum of four guests.
