Turning Your Story Into Movement: An Autobiographical Performance Workshop Sep 20, 2026 | Workshops Turning Your Story Into Movement: An Autobiographical Performance Workshop, where each participant uses their own story to create a performance piece. You don’t need to be a dancer or have a story ready — and dancers are very welcome! This workshop is for anyone curious to reflect on their life, face their own story, or expand their creative approach to performance. Where: DOCK 11 EDEN***** Studio, Berlin When: December 14-16, 2026 Time: 11:00–17:00 (Presentation on December 16 at 18:00) Deadline for applications: Early bird discount: €170 for payments made by October 15. Turning Your Story Into Movement is a three-day autobiographical performance workshop led by Berlin-based dancemaker and filmmaker Megumi Eda. Over the three days, each participant will choose an episode, memory, or small fragment from their life and gradually develop it into a short autobiographical performance. We will work individually and together, through movement, memory practices, voice, images, rhythm, writing, silence — and whatever else the process may need. On the final evening, we will have an informal studio showing. The work does not need to be perfect. The point is to make something, complete it, put it out there — and see what you discover through doing it. This is not a workshop for learning technique or getting sweaty. It is a space to think, imagine, question, and discover other possibilities in the way we move and create. For dancers and performers in particular, I’m interested in what happens when we step away from looking for the “right” way to do something and begin to discover our own ways of thinking, moving, and creating. This workshop grows directly out of my own autobiographical solo creations, together with my many years as a dancer. The workshops themselves continue to bring new questions into my artistic practice. I see the workshop as a shared research space — I bring what I have learned through my own experience, but I am also there to discover something new alongside the participants. After more than 30 years on stages around the world, this is the kind of work I care most about now: raw, honest, playful, and intimate. How to register: To register, please email Megumi directly at [email protected] with your name and a few words about yourself.
