Wonderwood — Co-Creators, Residents & Worldbuilders Deadline: 01 Jan 2027 Country: Taiwan Wonderwood is an evolving forest-based creative sanctuary and immersive cultural project in rural Hsinchu, Taiwan. We are currently seeking artists, designers, storytellers, builders, organizers, and collaborators who want to help shape a living world, part artist residency, part experimental cultural space, part immersive narrative environment. This is not a traditional residency focused only on isolated studio practice. We are especially interested in people excited by: co-creation interdisciplinary collaboration immersive experiences myth/story/worldbuilding community-centered living regenerative/ecological culture participatory art and play Current Priority Areas Story & Narrative Writers, poets, lore-builders, ARG designers, narrative designers, folklorists, journal-makers, and mythic thinkers. Immersive Games & Experiences Game designers, LARP creators, puzzle designers, interactive theater artists, ritual/game facilitators, and experience architects. Installation & Environmental Art Installation artists, sculptors, environmental artists, set designers, light/sound artists, and makers interested in transforming space. Stewardship & Community Operations Organizers, producers, retreat coordinators, hospitality-minded creatives, and systems-oriented collaborators who enjoy helping spaces function smoothly. Ecological & Regenerative Practice Permaculture practitioners, herbalists, ecological educators, land artists, and people interested in regenerative living systems. Life here is communal, hands-on, and participatory. People often contribute not only through their art, but also through cooking, organizing, hosting, gardening, building, storytelling, and helping shape the atmosphere of the space itself. Residents work across shared indoor and outdoor spaces including a glass music room in the woods, communal gathering areas, gardens, workshop zones, quiet writing spaces, and immersive environments that are constantly being shaped by the people living here. The atmosphere is collaborative, experimental, and participatory.Projects often spill beyond conventional studio walls into the landscape, community rituals, performances, installations, games, conversations, meals, and late-night creative sessions around the property. Rather than offering a polished institutional environment, Wonderwood offers space for exploration, co-creation, and building living worlds alongside an international community of artists, builders, storytellers, and cultural experimenters.Fees and support We offer a sliding scale depending on the needs of the artist. It ranges from 9,000nt per week including meals and accommodation. Expectations towards the artist Community outreach/engagement is encouraged but not required.
