They collaborate with artists, communities, and organizations to imagine alternative futures and implement creative interventions. Their guiding principle is “zero land consumption”—a commitment to working within existing spaces rather than contributing to further exploitation. The Ligurian coast, long preyed upon by short-term tourism and unchecked development, needs new narratives that reconnect its people to their environment. “We should feel intimately that we have slipped from a simple ecological crisis to what should rather be called a profound mutation in our relationship with the world.” — Bruno Latour The organisers of the residency believe artists can act as catalysts — infusing alternative imaginaries and new ways of seeing into the landscapes they inhabit, if only for a time. They invite artists of all disciplines, at any stage of their career, to spend three weeks in Western Liguria and help this land reconnect. Where you will work: - The Beach — 4 km of contested coastline between Alassio and Laigueglia - The Train Line — an unfinished 19th-century line, part of the landscape - Ranzi — a quiet mountain hamlet with an abandoned pizzeria and a small vineyard in need of care - Former Naval Shipyard — 800 m of abandoned industrial waterfront in Pietra Ligure - La Rosagialla Balcony — a suspended terrace overlooking the sea - The Caves — former quarries, some still active, some abandoned - The Albenga Plain — greenhouses and farmland, plastic-intensive, with an often-invisible migrant workforce - Puerta del Sol — an abandoned hotel, once a training ground for the Italian national football team - Julia Augusta — a preserved stretch of ancient Roman road, including the Roman "Ponte Lungo" bridge in Albenga - Oleificio Roveraro — a former oil mill, empty and crumbling between speculation and regeneration The residency covers: - A place to stay — La Casa della Rosa Gialla, a welcoming home with a coworking space and an inspiring view, will be your base for three weeks. - A space to work — They will introduce you to the landscapes, abandoned spaces, and communities of Liguria, helping you find the right setting for your project. - Documentation & Presentation — Your process will be documented under open licenses, and the organisers will help share your work at the end of the residency. Rossonove cannot offer artist fees or cover travel costs to and from Alassio. Send your proposal to [email protected] by October 31, 2026: - There is no required format, age limit, or CV expectation—this call is open to everyone. - Duration: 3 weeks, from March to June and from October to November. - The organisers welcome proposals from artists of all disciplines, at any stage of their career. - Familiarize yourself with the locations we are considering for artistic inquiry and interventions for 2027 - Introduce yourself in whatever form suits you—words, images, drawings, sounds etc. - Include a sample of your work and a short proposal explaining what you’d like to explore during your residency and your methodology to approach site specific work.
