Winter Residency 2027 Deadline: 30 Sep 2026 Country: Georgia Aqtushetii is pleased to invite applications for a one-month winter residency in Omalo, Tusheti. Set within the winter landscape of the Caucasus mountains, the residency offers time and space for focused work. With Omalo largely isolated during the winter months, residents can step away from the pace of everyday life and dedicate uninterrupted time to their creative practice. The residency is open to artists and creative practitioners working across different fields. Residents may use the time to develop an existing project, begin new work, conduct research, or simply spend time with their practice in a different environment. Alongside independent work, the residency offers an opportunity to experience winter life in Tusheti and engage with the surrounding landscape and local environment. Residency Includes • Helicopter transfer Telavi-Omalo-Telavi • Accommodation in the residency • Three meals per day • Access to Aqtushetii workspaces •. Materials • One month of dedicated time for independent creative practice The residency prioritizes concentrated practice in a quiet, remote setting. Duration of residency 1 month Accommodation Accommodation in the Aqtushetii residency in Omalo, Tusheti Disciplines, work equipment and assistance The residency is open to artists and creative practitioners from different backgrounds and disciplines. No specific academic qualification is required. Applicants should have an established creative practice and a clear interest in using the residency period for independent work, research, or experimentation.Studio / Workspace Artists have access to a range of shared studio and workshop spaces within the residency. These include studios for painting and visual arts, a ceramic studio equipped with electric, wood-fired, and raku kilns, a fully equipped silversmithing studio, a photographic darkroom, and workshop areas with woodworking and metalworking tools.Fees and support The residency cost is €2,500 (all inclusive). The cost covers: • Helicopter transfer Telavi-Omalo-Telavi • Accommodation • Materials • Three meals per day • Access to studios and workspaces Expectations towards the artist Selected artists are expected to: Reside at Aqtushetii for a minimum of one month within the residency period; Develop a body of work, a project, or research during their stay; Provide documentation of their process and outcomes; The residency emphasizes independent practice and sustained engagement rather than production deadlines.
