Call for the Autumn Exhibition at Den Frie Denmark Post date 01/10/2026 Open Call for the Autumn Exhibition at Den Frie Exhibition Building Do you want the opportunity to exhibit your works in Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, one of Denmark’s most beautiful exhibition rooms? Do you want to participate with a performance or perhaps with an artistic workshop or exhibit in the sculpture garden, in the heart of Copenhagen – and at the same time become part of KE’s long history? An open and democratic exhibition The Artists’ Autumn Exhibition is one of the oldest censored exhibitions in Denmark, where everyone has the opportunity to apply. This year’s jury takes all submitted works into account, and the assessment is based solely on the basis of the artistic potential of the individual works. The very special thing about KE is that the name, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality and background of the applicants are not available to the jury in the hope of enabling a fair and democratic selection, where it is the quality of the works that is at the center. Over the years, this approach has meant that more than 6,000 artists have taken their first step out on the Danish and international art scene through KE. Among them you will find Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, Wilhelm Freddie, Sonja Ferlov Mancoba, Asger Jorn, Poul Gernes, Ursula Reuter Christiansen, Jeannette Ehlers and Noah Umur. The jury The jury for KE26 consists of four visual artists, who together form a wide spectrum of the Danish and international art scene: Julie Hardenberg Lina Hashim Kåre Frang Mie Mørkeberg After the submission, all works are reviewed and assessed by this year’s jury, which through three rounds will put together the year’s exhibition. We want to make our Open Call as much as possible available. Therefore, the application process is 100% digital, which means that you only have to physically hand in your works if they are accepted at the exhibition — You will receive a response to your application on 12 October 2026. All exhibiting artists receive an exhibition fee of DKK 2,000. Answers to the most common questions about the application process can be found here.
