Art Residency in Tbilisi | Re-coding the Living Deadline: 30 Nov 2026 Country: Georgia Untitled Residency is a research-based art residency initiated by Untitled Tbilisi, created as a safe, caring, and critical space for artists working with queer and feminist perspectives, social justice, and speculative approaches to new forms of life, care, and coexistence. The main goal of the residency is to support artists whose practices engage with questions of identity, visibility, power, intimacy, community, and resistance – especially within fragile, transitional, or politically complex contexts. We are interested in artistic research that explores how people live together, survive, imagine futures, and build alternative forms of kinship and solidarity, particularly from queer, feminist, and decolonial positions. Untitled Residency welcomes artists who see research not as a preliminary step, but as an artistic practice in itself – whether through text, embodied processes, sound, image-making, performance, or collective experimentation. 🧬 THEMATIC FOCUS: Re-coding the living For this season, we are looking for research-based projects exploring stories, theories, and practices centered on reshaping the world we live in and its queer perspectives: - Who brings the future in the era of rapidly expanding technologies, and how is it reshaping our collective realities? - How do these technological shifts alter our understanding of life, new life forms, and queer politics with it? - Is the perception of life still sufficient, or is it time to rethink forms of a body and the ethics behind them? Where is the line between body and existence in shared rights? Duration of residency DURATION & CAPACITY • Flexible Stays: From 2 weeks up to 3 months, tailored to project needs. • Open Capacity: The total number of accepted artists across the year is not fixed – we welcome proposals across various timeline models! Accommodation The accomodation is located in Tbilisi, in Isani district surrounded with all kinds of shops and essencial locations in 2 minutes walk distance, it is also a few minutes walk to the metro station (two metro stops to the city center and old town) Accomodation is in a newly build apartment block on the 19th floor with the view over the city. It had one studio style kitchen and living room and one bedroom. It can accomodate one artist or one artist with their partner. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Untitled Residency is primarily interested in research-based artistic practices, which may include but are not limited to: Performance and performative research / Video and film / Photography / Sound and listening practices / New media and digital art / Writing, text-based, and archival practices / interdisciplinary and process-driven approaches WHAT WE PROVIDE: • Accommodation: Living space in Tbilisi for your stay. • Curatorial Support: Mentorship, tailored local connections, and possible partnerships for public presentations. • Final Exhibition: A showcase of the 2027 residency network in Tbilisi (Dec 2027) / joint exhibition of all resident artists • Curated by Giorgi Rodionov & Philomena GrasslStudio / Workspace The apartment had a lot of tools and possibility to work from home.Fees and support Residency Fee: €50 per day (covers private accommodation, all utilities, curatorial guidance and networking). Travel, daily food/expenses, materials, and insurance are the responsibility of the resident. We can provide formal invitation letters for external grant applications. Expectations towards the artist We expect artist to make at least one work during the residency time which can be exhibited in Tbilisi in December 2027. Once this initial phase is passed, the artist and Untitled Residency will jointly develop a precise artistic and curatorial plan tailored to the research needs of the project.
