ART AND SOCIAL SCIENCES Oriented to professionals in architecture, psychology, sociology, anthropology, journalism, social communication, social work, economics, philosophy, and other professional areas. The Biennials of Art are mega exhibitions that take place every two years, bringing together curators and artists under different themes to strengthen their internationalization while promoting tourism and the local economy. From the fifties to the present, Biennials have been held throughout the continent, with different ideological perspectives, and thematic approaches in relation to the production, circulation, and debate on art. In our research, we have identified more than 30 of them, and we have focused on the 13 most influential Biennials, which we use as case studies. These are BienalSur (Argentina), Bienal Deformes (Chile), Biennial of Cuenca (Ecuador), Biennial of Curitiba (Brazil), Biennial of the End of the World (Argentina), Biennial IKA (Argentina), Biennial Coltejer (Colombia), Biennial Iberoamericana de Lima (Peru), Havana Biennial (Cuba), Mercosur Biennial (Brazil), Montevideo Biennial (Uruguay), São Paulo Biennial (Brazil) and SIART Biennial (Bolivia). SISTEMÁTICA Y SEDUCTORA IV is a Residency program that takes these mega-events as cases to investigate and critically analyze the art system from a Latin American perspective. In addition, we will visit the 37th São Paulo Biennial in person, curated by Amanda Carneiro and Raphael Fonseca, who will work alongside an international group composed of Ana Salazar Herrera (Ecuador and Portugal), Léuli Eshrāghi (Samoa, Australia and Canada), Rado Ištok (Slovakia), Ryan Inouye (United States), and Yina Jiménez Suriel (Dominican Republic). The team is completed by Brazilian curatorial assistants Amanda Tavares and Mayara Carvalho. The São Paulo Biennial is the oldest and most relevant event for contemporary art in Latin America. Begun in 1951, it is one of the most important biennials internationally (together with the Venice Biennale and Documenta – Kassel).Fees and support The participation fee for 18 days is USD 1,400 (one thousand four hundred US dollars). The participation fee for 45 days is USD 2,900 (two thousand nine hundred US dollars). Expectations towards the artist Each edition of the SISTEMÁTICA Y SEDUCTORA concludes with a public presentation. This event takes place both in person and online, where each participant shares the progress or results of their research process. The recordings of these presentations are incorporated into the Reserva Ideológica archive —publicly accessible— becoming part of a collective body of knowledge on contemporary art.In addition, they are disseminated through Uberbau_house networks and collaborating platforms such as VADB, expanding their reach across the region.
