Bogotá Deadline: 11 Dec 2026 Country: Colombia R.A.R.O. is an international residency program that proposes an alternative model based on a wide network of studios and cultural spaces, rather than a single workspace. Through this collaborative structure, over 28 local artists’ studios, art departments from public and private universities, and other interdependent cultural projects welcome residents and support their creative processes across the program’s various formats. Founded in Buenos Aires in 2014, R.A.R.O. has hosted more than 450 artists from all over the world. Since 2024, the program has also operated in Bogotá (Colombia), where it has received over 100 artists, curators, and researchers. Throughout its history, the program has established alliances with various institutions to promote grant programs and strengthen artistic creation, the exchange of knowledge, and co-learning through both short and long-term residencies. The R.A.R.O. proposal invites participants to work alongside artists, curators, managers, and researchers in a dynamic of itinerancy, dialogue, and collaboration, where each space in the network functions as a node for learning and experimentation. In addition to studio work, the program includes complementary activities such as visits to museums and public and private collections, artist talks, field trips, and work critiques, broadening and deepening the experience of every residency. Duration of residency We invite artists, managers, curators, and other interested parties from Colombia and all nationalities to apply for the 6th Edition R.A.R.O. Bogotá, which is open until December 11th, 2026. The R.A.R.O. Bogotá program is aimed at a wide range of profiles, including artists with or without academic training, self-taught, emerging, or professional creators of any background, and researchers working in any artistic medium. Furthermore, the call extends to curators, cultural and social managers, human rights defenders, and anyone interested in developing projects linked to art and culture. This residency format consists of a period of six (6) weeks. Within this timeframe, four (4) weeks are dedicated to working in the selected studios. There, residents will be able to develop their processes, connect with other artists in the program, and meet the local artists working in each space. Subsequently, the residency will conclude with a one (1) week final exhibition. During this week, and alongside a mounting team and the edition’s curator, each resident will receive the necessary support so the group can exhibit the processes they worked on during the program. Additionally, residents will have curatorial meetings, workshops, and advisory sessions from the R.A.R.O. Team, as well as tours and visits through the city’s artistic circuit and group photographic documentation. Format: Macro-Residency Dates: From January 21st to May 3rd, 2026 Grants: One (1) full grant is available for artists of any nationality. Application Deadline: December 11th, 2026 Accommodation We offer various accommodation options for our residents. From hostels and shared rooms to private apartments or private rooms in local artists’ homes. Everything depends on the resident’s budget and needs. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance With 25 studios to choose from, R.A.R.O. residencies cover a wide range of techniques with all types of equipment and provide full assistance at all times.Studio / Workspace The key element of R.A.R.O.'s Itinerant Residencies is the opportunity to create, collaborate, and explore diverse artistic spaces during the residency. The multidisciplinary nature of R.A.R.O. allows residents to work in two or more workshops within our network.Fees and support Residencies have an associated cost. The cost varies depending on the chosen workshops and the duration of the stay. We offer 1 (one) full grant for artists of any nationality, granted by R.A.R.O. This grant covers the total cost of the program, which includes: access to the network’s studios, participation in the final exhibition, curatorial support, workshops, guided tours, and group photographic documentation. Expectations towards the artist Participation in the residency implies full acceptance of the terms and conditions. - Applicants must be over 18 years old at the time of application. - Full-time availability is required, as active participation in the proposed activities is fundamental to the development of the program. - While the residency is fee-based and the total value covers all the benefits and activities of the program, the scholarship—if awarded—will only cover the cost of the residency. It does not include additional expenses such as travel, materials, accommodation, food, or others. - The program offers an integral experience including: work in local studios selected according to the artist’s discipline, curatorial accompaniment during the development of the project, participation in a final collective exhibition at the close of the program, access to workshops, activities, and exchange opportunities, as well as a collective audiovisual record of the residency process and guided tours through the city’s artistic circuit. - By accepting participation, the artist commits to actively integrating into the work and exchange process with other artists, participating in the activities proposed by the R.A.R.O. team, respecting the rules and schedules of the studios and shared spaces, and contributing to the atmosphere of collaboration and mutual respect that characterizes the R.A.R.O. network. Application information Interested parties must complete the application form with the following information: - Personal and contact information. - Selection of the studios from our network where they wish to work. - A single PDF document that unifies the following: personal data, CV (formal and informal training, exhibitions, awards, previous residencies), Artist Statement, Portfolio with high-quality images, and the detailed Project to be carried out, specifying the residency duration and the selected studios. For those wishing to apply for the scholarship, a letter of intent (maximum 1 page) in PDF format must be attached within the same form.
