LAST CALL_September 2026_Writing Residency Program_ Andalusian Ecovillage_ Deadline: 09 Aug 2026 Country: Spain The REC.ON Art & Writing Residency” invites writers, translators, journalists, researchers, curators, and doctoral students seeking a peaceful and inspiring environment for focused creative work and reflection. The residency is located in the REC.ON Ecovillage – a rural sustainable development project founded in 2019 in the village of Bolaimi, at the foothills of the Andalusian mountains. The clean air and mountain silence foster clarity of mind and imagination. Residents live and work in close contact with nature, local andalusian culture, and the international community of the artist and travelers. Participants live in a restored co-living country house with access to work spaces both indoors – a coworking space in an art gallery with a view of the mountains – and on the project site at the foot of the mountains – in dedicated spaces: a bio garden, a platform with a tree house, and a hammock zone. Duration of residency We accept applications all year 2026 round • Residency length: 4 to 6 weeks• Sessions: June –  August 2026 Accommodation Coliving Apartment: Single or double privet rooms Common spaces: living room, fully equipped kitchen with kitchen with fireplace, bathroom, toillet Private rooms – single or double, in a restored Andalusian co-living apartment Peace and quiet close to nature – perfect for writing, painting, designing, and all things creative. Flexible workspace within the building (Apartment, Coworking space in the Art Gallery) and at the foot of the mountains, tailored to your individual artistic needs. Permaculture garden – with a workspace surrounded by organic vegetables and mountain views. Tree platform installation – a unique place for creation, relaxation, and meditation. A workshop with tools for basic wood and metal processing, as well as creative waste. organized on-site: shared meals, cultural events: presentations, concerts, bonfires & eco sauna (winter), workshops: permaculture, upcycling design, culinary. Optional excursions to local, authentic Andalusian towns (Vélez Rubio and Vélez Blanco) – cultural events, visits to monuments, and local bars. Optional meetings with Andalusian artists – including visits to their studios. Hospitality and care from hosts, Paulina and Bart – artisans and artists creating upcycled design Homemade breakfasts made with organic produce from the garden with delicious  coffee served on the patio – a perfect, inspiring start to the day (6x week). Mountain hikes starting directly at the Residence. Weekly Saturday trip to the local market in Vélez Rubio, followed by tapas at a local bar or sightseeing. Transfer – pick-up from the Vélez-Rubio bus stop – to the REC.ON Residence  Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We provide essential workspace equipment, including desks, chairs, and more. Residents have access to unique creative spaces, such as a platform under a tree and a space in the bio-garden for writing and reflection. The residence also features an art gallery with a co-working space. We provide Starlink Wi-Fi connectivity, and the day begins with delicious morning coffee and a homemade organic breakfast, which are included in the price of stays (6 x week).Studio / Workspace Workshop Space on site in the REC.ON Gallery - adapted for creating or writing, a shared space, an individual space in nature - a tree house platform, and shaded areas with tables in the permaculture garden with a view of the Andalusian mountains.Fees and support 1 person /4 weeks / 700 EUR/ single room 2 persons/ 4 weeks/ 1288 EUR/ double room Expectations towards the artist Sharing your creativity—whether through writing or visual art—is an integral part of the residency. We approach it individually, respecting each artist’s unique practice. Residencies typically culminate in a presentation, exhibition, reading, or conversation, discussion.
