In cultures dating back thousands of years, blue—the colour of the skies—has been intimately associated with the spiritual, while simultaneously signifying power, status, and beauty. As one of the three traditional primary colours, blue constantly surrounds us in our day-to-day lives; it defines our world so deeply that Earth itself is famously called the "Blue Planet.” Historically, this ubiquitous colour was incredibly rare and costly. Ultramarine blue was crafted exclusively from lapis lazuli, a semiprecious stone mined in what is now Afghanistan. Because of its scarcity, for centuries of Western art, this precious pigment was strictly reserved for the highest honour: painting the Virgin Mary’s cloak. This theme is quite open and all genres of photography are welcome, all that is required is the colour BLUE. Our exhibition will also coincide with a variety of cultural events in Kamnik such as ‘The May Flower Exhibition’ at Volčji Potok Arboretum, ‘Križnik's Fairytale Festival’ (storytelling festival) and ‘Museum Summer Night’ at the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik. Submission Details: Artists can submit up to 3 images from which ONE will be selected for the show. Successful artists will be asked to email us a high-resolution image of the chosen work. Selected artists will have their work displayed in a 4 week-long exhibition in our gallery, with their work also appearing online on our social media pages with a link to their websites. We will print all images A4 size and each photograph will also be individually mounted and framed, so no need to post anything. Every contribution must be an original artwork. Residency with a Glass Casting Technique Course – September-October 2026 Deadline: 15 Aug 2026 Country: Czech Republic At the beginning of the residency, participants will be introduced to the specific technique of kiln-cast glass sculpture—melting glass shards into custom-made molds. Residents will create a clay model, produce a negative mold, and fill it with glass for casting. The finished piece can then be further refined through grinding, polishing, or sandblasting. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire process and create their own glass sculpture under expert guidance in a fully equipped workshop. The residency is open to both experienced glassmakers and complete beginners. All materials are included. At the end of the residency, participants will leave with their finished artwork. In the thicket is an open call for conceptual and narrative photography, which understands the impenetrable as a space for narratives – as a backdrop, as a scene, as an inner landscape. We are looking for works that do not depict documentary, but track down what is findable in the thicket – or only conceivable. Works that tell stories without explaining them. No nature idyll. Founded by visual artist Cathy Sarkowsky in 2021, this intimate residency was created from her desire to support artists in developing new work by offering a space that nurtures exploration—of practices, relationships and the opportunity to recharge physically, spiritually, and creatively. We offer both private and shared studios, and the residency has been active since 2014. Duration of residency The duration of the residency varies from a minimum of 2 weeks up to 3 months, depending on the artist’s needs and the scope of the project. Accommodation Artists stay in private rooms right next to the studio during their residency, and the kitchen and bathroom are shared with other guests. It is a moment that promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and consequently the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Aviário Studio Art Residency aims to promote exploration and production in the Visual Arts. Artists can develop projects using a medium or a combination of technologies. Aviário Studio is an artist-run space with workshops equipped to develop projects on Printmaking, Ceramics, Wood, Metal, Sculpture, Installation, Drawing, Painting, Photography and Bookbinding. A feeling, once processed and shared, may circulate widely while growing distant from its source.   The digital is no longer separate from lived experience. They should create minimum of two works to exhibit at the final show. Multidisciplinary residence – Oct/Nov & Dec’26 – Ilhabela Island, Brazil Deadline: 25 Aug 2026 Country: Brazil Casa na Ilha is a retreat space to devote time and focus to your creative pursuits in an ecological paradise. Artists can intensely dedicate to their work in progress or develop new projects. The main goal is that artists are able to focus on their ideas and projects, enhancing creativity and inspiration and connect, between them, the local community and nature. Artists work on a self-directed residency: you will have uninterrupted, self-directed work time. We will not pressure you to deliver finished work; you can focus solely on research and development of ideas. However, during your stay there will be a tutor on location 24/7 to discuss ideas, projects and progress of work during the duration of the residency time, respecting artists pace and direction. We do not provide a set program or itinerary for artists to follow, sessions and tutor advice and support will be approached personally case by case around artists self-directed practices. Tutor will give you guidance as well as help make the necessary contacts, approaches and arrangements with different parties the project requires. Each sessions hosts 2 – 6 artists at the same time, from different disciplines, giving the opportunity to artists in residency to gain new ideas and insights that can be applied to creative exploration and the development of their work through peer interaction and discussion groups. Common spaces will be conceived to promote not only collaboration between the artists, but to empower ideas between different participants and interdisciplinary learning. Casa na Ilha Art Residency Program takes place in the island of Ilhabela, at the north coast of the state of Sao Pablo, Brazil. Located at 200 km from the city of Sao Pablo, is the largest island of an archipelago formed of this and other of minor dimension. Ilhabela is an ecological paradise, covered by Mata Atlantica (atlantic rainforest) home of unique fauna and flora, with more than 73 beaches and 27 waterfalls of cristalin pure water, the highest mountains are held here. Being a unique ecological ambience, and harboring various endangered species, 84% of the island is a preservation area, protected by the Parque Estadual Ilhabela.
