Contact Darkroom Residency Deadline: 01 Sep 2026 Country: United Kingdom *Currently taking bookings for Autumn winter 2026/2027 – Space Available from mid September onwards* The Contact Darkroom residency is a resource-based program offering artists 12 hours a day access to fully equipped colour and black-and-white darkrooms, a dedicated workshop room, and an open gallery space. The residency is designed to support both emerging and established artists, providing the facilities, time, and environment needed for immersive, hands-on making. Based in the South Hams, Devon, the residency sits within a landscape of rolling hills, rivers, and dramatic coastline, offering a rich environment for reflection and experimentation with the natural world. Artists are encouraged to draw inspiration from the surrounding area, whether working on an existing project, testing out new ideas and processes, or developing work that responds directly to place. Optional programs, such as workshops, guided walks, excursions, and local gallery visits, can be arranged on request, further connecting residents with the local community and cultural landscape. Duration of residency Contact Darkroom provides one-week to one-month self-directed photographic residencies from May through to October 2026. Artists who wish to undertake a longer residency are encouraged to apply and include a short statement outlining their reasons for an extended stay and their intended duration. Accommodation Residents are offered several accommodation options, ranging from bedsits and lodgings to dorm-style accommodation. Prices are typically kept between £35 and £40 per night. A detailed accommodation brochure is available on request.  Residents are also welcome to source their own accommodation. All residents are welcomed with a pickup from Totnes station and a shared meal, providing an opportunity to discuss intentions and plans for the week ahead. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome applications from artists working across photography, film, and lens-based practices, as well as those interested in interdisciplinary work that engages with image-making, print, and alternative processes. 100W-Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency 2027 Deadline: 01 Sep 2026 Country: United States Artists and writers of international, national and Texas origin are invited to apply for 2-month, fully-funded studio residencies to produce work in rare scale and focus with generous support and vast, immersive space, in an historic setting fifty miles south of Dallas, Texas. Residents are hosted at 100 West, an 11,000 square-foot, former Odd Fellows lodge virtually unaltered since its 1890s construction, preserved and minimally furnished with pieces designed and built from the first-floor woodshop. Private artist studios are 2,400 square-feet; writing studio is 600 square-feet; kitchen and dining room are shared. Quiet studio focus is prioritized, and balanced with introductions to professional networks in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, culminating with Open Studios at the close of term. This Residency takes place in downtown Corsicana – the birthplace of the Texas oil industry, where two booms 1890s – 1920s produced an exuberant setting, declining in care and use by the late-20th century, and gradually rejuvenating across the last decade. 182 artists and writers from across the United States and 18 countries have been granted residencies since 2012. Our programs for residency and education take place within a collection of sites: 100 West (studio and living space), Bookstore (published work and recommendations by residents), and Anteroom (exhibitions of alumni work). WINTER: January 4 – February 23 SPRING: March 1 – April 27 FALL: October 11 – December 7 Accommodation Each resident is granted a private work studio with bed and bath accommodations including: extra-long twin bed, pillows, sheets, blankets, bath towels, and limited closet space for clothes and personal belongings. Each resident has a personal bathroom with sink and lavatory. Writing Studio bathroom includes a clawfoot tub. The shower room is shared on the second-floor and cleaned weekly. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Visual art and writing practices are supported with two large, private 220 square-meter studios for artists, and a 55 square-meter studio for writers. Tool and equipment resources include an intaglio printing press, digital projectors, speakers, and access to a full woodshop. This residency prioritizes a work-focused, quiet, monastic atmosphere without interruption. Engagement with the local community and Dallas-based arts professionals happens occasionally through shared dinners and studio visits. Ceramic and aerosol-based work are not accommodated.Studio / Workspace Constructed as an Odd Fellows Lodge in the 1890s, 100 West is an unaltered building with a private third-floor artist studio in the original Encampment Hall, a private third-floor writing studio in the Encampment Hall’s ante-chamber, and a private second-floor artist studio in a former community meeting hall. A kitchen, dining and living room are shared on the second-floor. A laundry room with machine washer and dryer is on the first-floor. The building is furnished with period and artist-made pieces produced in the first-floor wood shop in the monastic tone defining 100 West’s atmosphere. Expectations for residents’ care of studios do not tolerate any trace of a resident’s practice or work. Temporal Laboratory – Situated Practices in the Environment Deadline: 01 Sep 2026 Country: Argentina Laboratorio Temporal (Temporal Laboratory) is an ongoing, transdisciplinary residency program that invites artists, researchers, writers, and scientists to suspend the rhythm of major cities and engage in a situated practice. Located in the unique, semi-rural environment of El Marquesado (where forest, dunes, cliffs, and sea converge), the residency aims to dismantle extractivist logics of fast consumption and production. Grounded in the material turn, our goal is to foster projects that treat the territory, its matter, and its biological cycles not as a passive backdrop, but as active co-producers of meaning and memory. Programming & Structure The residency rejects rigid structures. Instead of fixed dates, we offer a highly flexible format where the duration and timing of each stay are co-designed with the residents on a rolling basis to match the needs of their research and the seasonal shifts of the environment. Programming includes critical accompaniment and mentorship by the founders, field support through alliances with scientific institutions (such as Fundación Azara), and the opportunity to activate processes locally through community-engaged formats like Open Studios, shared walks, workshops, or archive activations. Conditions & Workspace Residents live and work in an outstanding 100 m² wood architectural structure, featuring a large communal hall for collective thinking, private mezzanine workspaces, a shared kitchen, and direct access to the surrounding landscape. Accommodation and studio space are covered by the program. Residents are responsible for travel and production materials; however, the residency provides official support letters to assist selected applicants in securing external funding or mobility grants. Call for February Retreat 2027 – ARiR Guiniguada, Gran Canaria Deadline: 02 Sep 2026 Country: Spain Artist and Researcher in Residence programme, runs since 2019 in the Guiniguada valley of Gran Canaria, in the northern foothills, a long inhabited fertile area, not the touristic south. Separate studios, several terraces, shared kitchen and bathrooms. The house is our home, where we welcome you, we are present during the programme and support your projects. We are on an experimental life project trying to be less a consumer and work together with nature to a desired extent. Natural setting of the warm-loving forest zone, also ongoing agricultural activity. Rural as being part of a village, but very close to the capital city of Las Palmas or the town of Santa Brígida, thus well connected also via roads and public transport. Duration of residency Preferably 4 weeks (whole period). Minimum stay 2 weeks. Accommodation The house is an ‘organic’ type – this means by local standards it had been used first as a series of caves, since unkown times, and the previous owners enlarged it step by step in the directions where the rocky hillside has permitted. The residency area starts above our apartment; consisting of five rooms. Each room is separate, they do not open from each other. A shared kitchen and various terraces are at your disposal, and there are two shared bathrooms. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Artist and Researcher in Residence Guiniguada is awaiting guests who have projects or would want to get a deeper understanding of the following issues: Ecology & society: ecological art, food chain, carbon and nitrogen cycle, recuperation of ecosystems. Arts & society: visual language, contemporary art of light, hermetic traditions in modern art. Human rights & society: equality of opportunity, equal treatment, social exclusion/inclusion. We welcome applications from dance artists as well as artists from other disciplines who use movement in their practice. The selected artist(s) will receive a £20,000 commission, development support, up to two weeks of studio space in kind. It will tour for five weeks as part of The Playground Tour and might be offered further touring opportunities at partners’ festivals. Who can apply: Be based in the UK. (Residencias Artísticas Raramente Organizadas) is an international residency program for artists born from the need to generate links and exchanges. In these residencies, we contemplate production and artistic reflection in relation to multidisciplinary synergies and collaborations. We are a decentralized and self-managed program operating through a training and support network made up of more than 25 local artist studios ready to receive others in their spaces. Our dynamic is primarily itinerant and relational. Since 2014, we have opened our doors in Buenos Aires, a city where we have hosted more than 300 residents and where we have generated different scholarship programs for both Argentine and foreign artists, developing agreements with various institutions and contributing to the strengthening of production and exchange between disciplines. Since 2024, we inaugurated our program in Bogotá. The key element of the residencies we propose is the possibility of working with different artists, curators, managers, and researchers in an itinerant manner during a specific time; this is essential for generating spaces for dialogue and collaboration between participants and hosts. In parallel with the work processes in each space, we generate an agenda of activities such as studio visits, talks, and clinics, among others, which are complementary and enrich the experience of each resident, allowing them to relate to different spaces and actors according to the nature of their own projects. Duration of residency We invite artists, managers, curators, and other interested parties from Argentina and all nationalities to apply for the 2nd Session R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires 2026, which is open until September 4, 2026. The R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires program is aimed at a wide range of profiles, including artists with or without academic training, self-taught, emerging, or professional creators of any background, and researchers working in any artistic medium. Furthermore, the call extends to curators, cultural and social managers, human rights defenders, and anyone interested in developing projects linked to art and culture.   This residency format consists of a period of six (6) weeks. Within this timeframe, four (4) weeks are dedicated to working in the selected studios. There, residents will be able to develop their processes, connect with other artists in the program, and meet the local artists working in each space. Hosted by Canteiro, an independent artist-run space in São Paulo, Brazil, How to Live Together? is an international residency built around one of the few artist-run multimedia studios in Latin America specifically designed for experimental artistic practices. At the heart of the residency is a 70 m² acoustically treated studio, originally conceived as a professional recording studio. Today it serves as a flexible environment for artistic research and production, particularly suited for sound art, moving image, video art, performance, installation and emerging media. Rather than offering only accommodation and studio space, Canteiro provides artists with access to an environment where research, experimentation and interdisciplinary practices are central to everyday life. Located in São Paulo—one of the world’s largest and most dynamic cultural centers—the residency connects artists to an active ecosystem of exhibitions, independent spaces, curators, researchers and international collaborations. The conceptual framework of the residency begins with a simple question: How do we live together? Artists are invited to investigate this question through their own methodologies, engaging with themes such as coexistence, care, urban life, labor, ecology, technology, migration, collective imagination and new social structures. Duration of residency Residencies are available for 1, 2 or 3 months, with longer stays encouraged for research-based and interdisciplinary projects. Accommodation Residents stay in a private room within Canteiro’s residency facilities in Vila Madalena, São Paulo. While the program is especially suited to these fields, applications from artists working across all areas of contemporary art are welcome. Every residency at Canteiro is tailored to the artist's research, medium and professional goals. Rather than offering a fixed package, we work closely with each resident to design an experience that responds to their artistic practice and production needs. Depending on the artist's project and the residency package selected, residents may have access to private accommodation in São Paulo, an individual studio with internet access, and scheduled access (up to six hours per week) to Canteiro's 70 m² acoustically treated multimedia studio. Originally designed as a professional recording studio, this unique space offers exceptional acoustic qualities and provides an ideal environment for sound art, audio recording, moving image, video art, performance, installation and interdisciplinary experimentation. Additional opportunities may include critical review sessions with invited curators, professors, gallery professionals and established artists from the Brazilian contemporary art scene, artist talks, studio visits, guided visits to independent art spaces and galleries throughout São Paulo, and promotion through Canteiro's website and social media channels. Residents may also choose to conclude their stay with an optional Open Studio presentation. Artists wishing to develop a public exhibition during or after the residency may commission Canteiro's curatorial and production services. It supports projects involving: Sound art Audio recording and composition Moving image and video art Performance Installation Expanded cinema Screenings and listening sessions Workshops and rehearsals Experimental and emerging media The studio functions as both a production space and a place for research, dialogue and collective experimentation, encouraging the resisdent to work across disciplines and develop projects that would be difficult to realize in conventional studio settings.Fees and support Every residency at Canteiro is tailored to the artist’s research, medium and professional goals. Rather than offering a fixed package, we work closely with each resident to design an experience that responds to their artistic practice and production needs. The residency fee is US$1,350 for one month, US$2,500 for two months, and US$3,600 for three months. Fees are billed in Brazilian Reais (BRL); USD values are provided for reference only. The standard residency includes private accommodation, an individual studio space, participation in the residency program, and access to Canteiro’s artistic community and professional network. Depending on the artist’s project and the residency package selected, additional opportunities and services may be incorporated into the program. Residents are responsible for travel, meals, visas, health insurance and personal expenses. Limited partial scholarships may occasionally become available through partnerships or external funding opportunities. Expectations towards the artist The residency prioritizes research, experimentation and artistic exchange. Residents are encouraged to engage with Canteiro’s artistic community throughout their stay. At the end of the residency, artists are invited to present their research through an Open Studio, artist talk, screening, performance or another format appropriate to their practice. This public sharing is encouraged but remains flexible and is developed in dialogue with the Canteiro team. The Open Studio may take place as part of Vem na Sexta, a visiting circuit connecting independent art spaces in the Pinheiros and Vila Madalena neighborhoods.
