The 2026 contest features two sections: “Beauty of Imperfection” and “Open.” The Beauty of Imperfection section invites photographers to explore the character, emotion and visual richness found beyond conventional ideas of perfection. Entries may focus on traces of time, ageing, cracks, irregular forms, vulnerability, coincidence, transformation and unexpected details found in people, nature, objects, architecture or everyday life. Ercan Arslan laid his academic foundations at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Photography, and completed his master’s degree at the same institution in 2019. At the heart of his professional career is his 30-year role (1993-2023) as a photojournalist and photo editor at Milliyet Newspaper. İlkay Öztürk is a photographer, instructor, and creative director specialized in gastronomy photography, visual storytelling, and brand content. With a strong narrative language coming from a background in journalism and publishing, she has been conducting professional work in communication, content production, and photography for over 25 years. Sumru Gözaydın is a senior corporate communications professional in strategic marketing and brand communication in the food industry. After her university education at Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, she joined Durum Gıda in 2020 as Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager after working for many years in various communication roles at established agencies and international brands. Open Call 2027 – Sardinia Island, Italy Deadline: 07 Sep 2026 Country: Italy Nocefresca is the first active and permanent artistic residency program in Sardinia. It is a house that welcomes artists and creative professionals from all over the world to the rural villages of Sardinia for research and creative experimentation, involving both participants and local communities in a cultural exchange experience. By inviting a limited number of artists in areas far from the tourist coasts, Nocefresca creates a sustainable experience able to contribute to the territory and support it in the periods when it experiences less tourist flow and it is therefore the most authentic and beautiful. The residency is primarily self-directed and, as an artist, you are expected to be self-sufficient in your practice. However, Nocefresca organises some activities to help you fuel your artistic process: – Presentation of each one’s practice to the group – Individual and group meetings with the guest curator for assistance and feedback – Opportunity to propose site-specific projects, talks and workshops – Final open-studio event, open to the public – Every month, a local person of our choosing takes the artists to his/her favourite places in the village of Milis and outside of it (transportation included) – Other outdoor excursions and explorations, screening of films, visiting artists and social activities with the local community are extra activities that can happen spontaneously during the residency and can be facilitated by our team. Artists live in shared apartments and they can choose to have a private bathroom or shared. There is also the possibility to have a complete private accomodation in a cottage in the countryside. The houses are equipped with full amenities: kitchen, hot water, WiFi, washer. Bed sheets and towels are provided, as are basic kitchen necessities and appliances. The hosts do a general cleaning at the beginning and at the end of your stay. Each artist is responsible for the recycling. Free parking available on the street. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Nocefresca is great for visual artists, photographers, writers, multi-disciplinary artists, designers, composers and creative nomads. We schedule curatorial assistance throughout the entire residency, but we are also always happy to visit your studio, exchange ideas or give some practical help. We can also help you organise a specific meeting with the community, facilitate interactions, put you in contact with local artists or recommend a less-known location. We have a series of basic equipment and some classic hardware; you are expected to provide any specific tools and materials you might need.Studio / Workspace Our studios are located in three different premises. Casa Bagnolo, Casa Oaxaca, and the Orchard Studio. Casa Bagnolo is the main hub of the residency. Casa Oaxaca is an old house refurbished by our hosts Italo and Leo, equipped with two bedrooms, two studios equipped with a desk, rolling chair, armchair, storage space, and good lighting, and an 80 sq m outdoor workspace in the internal courtyard: a small oasis of peace ideal for those who want to work outdoors, designed by our hosts: the local garden designers Italo and Leo. The Orchard Cottage is a countryside cottage located a 20-minute walk, a 10-minute bike ride, or a 5-minute drive from Milis. It is a fully private space that functions both as a studio and accommodation.Fees and support The participation fee depends on the kind of studio and the housing type chosen by the artist. The fees vary from 1,650 to 1,880 euros per month. Expectations towards the artist At Nocefresca, artists are free to develop their own projects without any restriction regarding topic or outcome. MCA will showcase the 2026 and 2027 resident artists during their annual benefit exhibition, in consultation with the artists. The dates are May 14–June 25, 2027. In addition, as part of the residency, artists are expected to share their work and creative process through at least one public-facing event. Examples include: • Open Studio – Invite visitors into your workspace to share works in progress and spark dialogue. • Artist Talk or Panel Discussion – Present your practice, influences, or project outcomes in conversation with MCA staff or guest moderators. • Workshop or Demonstration – Offer a hands-on or observational session related to your medium or process. About Mosesian Arts: The Mosesian Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts venue in Watertown, Massachusetts. We offer artists the opportunity to be part of our art residency in Downtown Guadalajara, Colonia Americana (Mexico). We can host up to 4 artists. We give priority to artists working on social topics, such as gentrification, immigration, equality, social justice, poverty, homeless people, gender rights…Nevertheless, this is not a binding criteria. ABOUT THE CITY AND SPACE Guadalajara is the second biggest city in Mexico (8 millions people) a growing city with a touch of tradition. It has a great climate, mild-hot during the day – cool and fresh at night most of the year and it surrounded by beautiful nature to visit. The residency is surrounded by a vivid community, full of artists and craftsmen, close to galleries, historic buildings as much as bars and restaurants. All it is walking distance. We are a small and independent residency but we try to support the artists the best we can, mainly in logistics, and in the communication of their event. Lately, we are creating brotherhood with several local art organizations and organizing events in their spaces as well. CLIMATE: Guadalajara is 1,600 meters on the level of the sea, therefore its climate is generally dry and warm. Temperatures are averagely around 25º/30ªC during the day and at night 10-20ºC. Duration of residency One month minimum up to  to six months. We usually suggest, if possible, to come at least 2 months to have a full experience/inspiration. Accommodation The residency is in an old colonial house completely renewed in Downtown Guadalajara.The house can host up to 4 artists in residency (living and studio). SPACE A It has two rooms (one bedroom and one studio) and can be for a duo artists or it can host artists with particular needs that require to have studio and bedroom separated. Each of the other two spaces (SPACE B and C) is one solo space where the artist work and live at the same time.We also have a big central patio and the living/dining room in case artists need a bigger space to work. Each space is full of natural light. Aviário Studio Ceramic Figure Sculpting Residency aims to promote exploration and production in the field of figure sculpting in clay. The program is customized according to the artist’s goals regarding duration, outcome and focus. We offer the conditions to test possibilities and materialize ideas. On one hand, it can be a moment of transition, more connected to experimentation, research and learning new techniques; or it can be the point of consolidation of a project translated into the production of a new body of work. MacDowell Call for Applications: Spring Summer 2027 Deadline: 10 Sep 2026 Country: United States Established in 1907, MacDowell is a renowned artist residency program located in Peterborough, NH, offering a rural, serene, supportive environment for creative work. The residency promotes artistic freedom and encourages participation from a diverse range of artistic disciplines and voices. Artists are eligible to apply to MacDowell if they are generating original works of art, are at least 21 years of age and are not currently enrolled in a degree program (with the exception of ABD students). The intensive will be led by artistic directors James Wilton and Sarah Jane Taylor. What you will learn: Each day begins with a technique class learning our floorwork technique. Learn to move with athleticism and power whilst retaining a sense of expansiveness, breath and quality. You will upskill with new tricks and flips, but more importantly you’ll learn how to integrate these seamlessly into choreography. After this you’ll learn a new phrase from our 2027 work LOKI. Tribal, primordial and energetic, the phrase will tap into our ancestral bodies, leading you to be part animal, part human and part Norse god. The afternoon concludes with duet based research.
