Alpujarra Art Residency

Call for artists 2027 open! Deadline: 20 Dec 2026 Country: Spain The Alpujarra Art Residency provides an environment where artists can focus on creating, experimenting, and growing. A retreat away from your familiar surroundings, where you can gain fresh perspectives and enjoy uninterrupted creative time. A better suited location than the Alpujarra is hardly imaginable, with its lovely white villages, the peace and quiet of rural surroundings, the stunning mountains and valleys and the spectacular views over the Mediterranean. Duration of residency a minimum of 2 weeks to 2 months maximum Accommodation There are two rooms available in Casa 3 where artists will stay for the duration of their residency. Both rooms have their own bathroom, toilet, airconditioning and an outdoor space. There is a shared kitchen, a washing machine and fibre internet. There is free parking 50 meters from Casa 3. Accomodation is not free, but we keep our prices at a minimum to make a residency available for everyone. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We encourage artists of all disciplines to come and feed their creativity in Polopos. We provide a space for rest, inspiration and renewed creativity. This can be for musicians, writers, painters, movie makers, photographers you name it! We do not have all of the tools for making ceramics or iron work in our own studio but Polopos is the perfect place to prepare pigments, make sketches and plan for ceramic pieces when you get back home.Studio / Workspace There are two studios available in the residency, according to your branch of art you will be allocated with a space best suited for your needs. Each artist staying in the Alpujarras artist residence gets their own private studio space. There are a few materials provided that can be used, paints, colored pencils, paper, fabrics etc. Please let us know before you come what you would need for your art and we can see if we have what you need.Fees and support The fee for a residency is €175 per week. It is possible to bring a partner for €100 per week extra. Expectations towards the artist Selection Considerations While we welcome applications from all artists, we’d like to share some insights about what we typically look for to help guide your application. Please note that none of these are absolute requirements – we encourage all artists to apply regardless of background or practice. These guidelines simply offer insight into what has worked well in our village setting: Quality of artistic work is our primary consideration Spanish language skills are helpful for connecting with our welcoming local community Our village neighbors are wonderfully open-minded, and we tend to favor art that resonates with or is accessible to the local community We find residencies of 2 weeks to 2 months work particularly well At the end of your residency we encourage artists to do an exhibition or a talk about their work, however this is not obligatory and only if the artist chooses to do so. Application information As you will become part of our small mountain community, we’d like to introduce you properly to our village neighbors. Please submit your application as a single A4 page (physical or digital format) that includes: A brief personal introduction telling us about yourself An artist statement describing your practice What you hope to achieve or work on during your residency A photo of yourself If applicable, a photo of one of your artworks This format allows us to share your introduction with the local community and helps everyone get to know you before your arrival. We accept applications in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Dutch. Following our initial review, selected applicants will be invited to a Zoom call where we can meet each other personally and ensure we’re a good mutual fit. Located approximately 45 km from Buenos Aires City, in a semi-rural community surrounded by nature and a growing network of local producers, artists and cultural initiatives, TERRA offers an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and immerse yourself in a different rhythm. Here, artistic practice becomes part of the experience of inhabiting a place: observing its landscape, discovering its ecosystem, meeting its people and finding inspiration in everyday life. We connect the creatives of the world with the rich culture and beauty of Morocco through artist residencies in an ancient city on the edge of the Mediterranean. Our spacious, sunny studios are within a two minute walk to Tetouan’s ancient medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Artists of all disciplines are invited to apply. Residencies seasons are 3 or 6 weeks and applications are accepted year round. Drugs, illegal substances, and unsafe conduct are strictly prohibited. 6.Artwork & Materials - Artists are responsible for their own materials, tools, and equipment unless otherwise stated. - STUDIOS 94 is not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings or artworks. - Artists must maintain safe working practices and avoid damaging property. 7.Exhibition & Sales - A 30% commission applies to artworks sold during official exhibitions, artist showcases, events and workshops hosted by STUDIOS 94 unless otherwise agreed in writing. - Payment to artists is processed after buyer payment has cleared. - Artists are responsible for pricing clarity and accuracy of artwork information. - Independent private sales conducted outside official programming remain the responsibility    of the artist. 8.Legal & Visa Responsibility - Artists are solely responsible for complying with Thai law, including visa status, income regulations, tax obligations, and work permissions. - STUDIOS 94 assumes no responsibility for violations of local law committed by participating    artists.   9.Media, Documentation & Promotion By participating in any program or activity at STUDIOS 94, artists grant STUDIOS 94 permission to: - Photograph and film artworks, installations, studios, exhibitions, events, and shared spaces. - Photograph and film participating artists within the premises during working hours, exhibitions, events, open studios, and public programming. - Use images and video for promotional, archival, press, educational, and marketing    purposes across websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and printed materials. RePAIR Program – [2] Flexible Residency (Self-Guided Stay) Deadline: 31 Dec 2026 Country: Japan The RePAIR Program is for self-funded artists who choose to reside and work at PARADISE AIR on their own initiative. This is our first fee-based residency program, and we will use the residency fees to support the ongoing operation and future development of PARADISE AIR. Until May 2026, PARADISE AIR offered residency opportunities free of charge. As announced earlier, we have suspended those programs. Through the RePAIR Program, we aim to build a foundation that will allow us to revive free residency opportunities in the future. As part of this initiative, we assist artists with grant applications and offer opportunities for individuals and organizations to support artists staying in Japan.The name “RePAIR” refers to repairing and rebuilding the foundation of PARADISE AIR, and also reflects our hope that new pairings and connections will emerge between artists, supporters, and residency experiences. Additional guests may stay for an extra fee of JPY 21,000 per person per week. Children who can share a bed with a parent or guardian may stay free of charge. Requirements for Resident Artists - Active involvement in the arts, including artistic production, research, curatorial practice, writing, lectures, symposiums, and other activities related to artistic creation - Willingness to engage positively with fellow resident artists, local citizens, and members of the PARADISE AIR community. - Openness to changes in ideas and plans during the residency. - Flexibility in responding to plans and operational requirements proposed by PARADISE AIR. - Use of stairs to access the 1st through 7th floors of the building.
