Here you will find inspiration, peace and the space to think, create and play. Set within a sympathetically restored cortijo, we offer 4 bedrooms, a communal studio, use of the ceramics workshop, shared kitchen, bathrooms (2), internal and external spaces, including a wonderful roof terrace, a fly-free and over 2 acres of land to wander, where you will find olive, fig, walnut, pomegranate and persimmon trees – we are confident you will find everything you need here, including oodles of inspiration! Established in 2025, Cortijo el Moro’s art residency welcomes artists, writers and researchers from across the globe, practising in any media. However, we do have a dedicated ceramics workshop, a small selection of woodworking and metalworking tools. Are you looking for the space and tranquility to develop a new body of work, write a novel, or perhaps wanting to meet fellow creatives, share ideas and learn new skills to develop your practice?.. Then, we may have just the thing. There’s more… When your stay comes to an end, our shared journey doesn’t have to. In fact, residents may be invited to become a member of the ‘Cortijo el Moro Collective’. This is a shared online space with past, and current art residents. Our intention is to create a space where you can continue to meet international artists, to collaborate, share news of upcoming exhibitions, ask for advice or feedback on new work, run a live workshop or ask another member to share their skills. We hope you can see the magic of such a resource too. Duration of residency 2 weeks to 2 months Accommodation The cortijo is set over 3 floors, providing 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is a communal kitchen, living room, dining area, roof terrace and also a ‘fly-free’ set in the extensive grounds. We provide a communal studio at the top of the house and access to a small terrace. On the ground floor you will find a separate ceramics studio, with access to an electric kiln and potters wheel, plus a traditional kick-wheel. Each bedroom also has its own private workspace. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We welcome creatives working across most disciplines. We provide a communal studio, as well as a dedicated workspace in each private bedroom, a ceramics workshop and a small selection of woodworking and metalworking tools.Studio / Workspace A communal studio is provided for guests staying in the Cortijo. The studio is situated at the top of the house (3rd floor). It provides room for the 4 artists staying at any one time in the house. We have an exhibition space with exhibition possibilities and we organize an Open studio with art talks every last week of the month. Nordingrå Konstby’s artist residency is open to all artists, of any discipline. The residency is self-funded and self-directed. Our accommodation is comfortable, set in the beautiful surroundings of Nordingrå, known for its long tradition and history of art. The residence is situated in the heart of a dynamic and growing art community. When staying at our residence you are allocated your own accommodation and work studio. When staying here in the summer, you’ll enjoy the long, bright days, vibrant nature and the magic of Nordingrå, known for its supposed 52 mountains, 52 villages and 52 lakes. From the Midsummer weekend Nordingrå Konstby and most of the High Coast opens up for summer, with cafés, restaurants, shops and exhibitions welcoming visitors and many ongoing nature activities. This is a time when many artists and art lovers visit us from Sweden and all over the world. This time of year is suitable if you wish to combine a work period with activities and social interaction. Our community is inspiring and close-knit, driven with kindness and a willingness to help each other. However, for the person who is in need of calm, quiet and peaceful surroundings, there is enough room on the premises for you to work in a tranquil mode and many places nearby for you to walk or hike to for a swim in a lake or an escape to a forest or the top of a nearby mountain. Our residency provides you with the unique opportunity to focus on your art, whilst taking inspiration from the breathtaking scenery of the renowned High Coast of Sweden. Our art village is an active work place for artists and artists’ organisations. In addition to your own studio, here, you will find a gallery, summer café, antiquarian bookstore, an art boutique and artists’ organisation with studios equipped for printmaking, letterpress, tufting, metal and an enamel studio. Duration of residency The duration of our residency programme is two or four weeks. Accommodation Your accommodation is situated in the main building in our art village. We have four residencies to offer, depending on your spatial needs and budget. SÍM Residency Reykjavík Open Call 2027 Deadline: 31 Aug 2026 Country: Iceland The SÍM Residency invites artists and cultural practitioners to apply for its self-funded Artist-in-Residence Programme 2027 in downtown Reykjavík, Iceland. The SÍM Residency is an international, nonprofit residency program for contemporary artists and cultural practitioners, run by SÍM – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists. It is one of the Nordic region’s most established artist residency programmes, welcoming around 200 artists and cultural practitioners from around the world each year. The residency provides artists and researchers with a sustainable living and working environment that encourages reflection, experimentation, and creative collaboration. Participants are given the time, space, and support needed for artistic research, project development, and creative production. We welcome proposals from creators and practitioners across a wide range of disciplines. Applications are open to individuals working in visual arts, design, architecture, music, dance, performance art, creative writing, curatorial practice, cultural work, and scientific research. Our residency programs are designed to bring together a diverse community of artists and creators, creating opportunities for meaningful exchange, professional networking, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Granted residency is from the third day of the first month to the last day of the relevant month. Accommodation The SÍM Residency apartment includes 18 private bedrooms, a mix of private and shared workshop spaces, and a large open project area used for events and group exhibitions. All residents share common facilities such as kitchens, bathrooms, and showers.Each month, the residency hosts up to 20 – 22 artists, creating a lively and collaborative atmosphere that encourages artistic exchange and experimentation. The residency is located just a 10-minute walk from the old city center, the residency is surrounded by cultural landmarks and amenities, including libraries, museums, galleries, supermarkets, swimming pools, cinemas, restaurants, and the University of Iceland. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Disciplines: We are open to all art forms and practices - from contemporary visual arts to multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches. We welcome cultural practitioners, creative writers, dancers, performance artists, sound artists, and more. Work Equipment: Artists are responsible for funding their own work equipment and materials. The residency provides basic tools, some IT equipment, and recyclable materials that artists may use freely. Additionally, SÍM Residency can help artists connect with external professional workshops and facilities, such as sculpture studios, Fab Lab, ceramics workshops, dance studios, and sound recording facilities. Please note that additional fees may apply depending on the workshop. Assistance: Before and during the residency, artists receive guidance and introductory meetings. In addition, artists are granted a SÍM membership card, which provides free entrance to local museums and galleries, as well as discounts at certain art supply stores and other cultural venues.Studio / Workspace Each artist is provided with a private or shared studio, depending on availability and the artist’s preference.Fees and support Artists are required to pay the residency programme fee of 50.000 ISK kr and accommodation fee starting at 140.000 ISK. In addition, artists are responsible for their own travel, insurance, and living expenses.SÍM Residency does not have a dedicated funding body and, unfortunately, cannot offer scholarships or stipends. We therefore strongly recommend that artists seek funding opportunities in their home countries, as most Icelandic funding schemes are primarily intended for Icelandic artists or projects. All selected artists receive an official letter confirming their participation in the residency program, which may support their applications for external funding to cover the cost of their stay. Expectations towards the artist The residency offers artists to give an artist talk during their stay and a group exhibition at SÍM Residency´s exhibition space. Due to the same staircase-only access, we are unable to provide accommodations that meet accessibility standards, and government permissions have not been granted to support these needs. – Individuals sensitive to dynamic environments: We encourage individuals who are highly sensitive to social engagement or navigating particularly challenging periods of their lives to consider their application carefully. The residency program hosts a vibrant community of creators from diverse artistic disciplines, cultural backgrounds, and walks of life. 100W-Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency 2027 Deadline: 01 Sep 2026 Country: United States Artists and writers of international, national and Texas origin are invited to apply for 2-month, fully-funded studio residencies to produce work in rare scale and focus with generous support and vast, immersive space, in an historic setting fifty miles south of Dallas, Texas. Residents are hosted at 100 West, an 11,000 square-foot, former Odd Fellows lodge virtually unaltered since its 1890s construction, preserved and minimally furnished with pieces designed and built from the first-floor woodshop. Private artist studios are 2,400 square-feet; writing studio is 600 square-feet; kitchen and dining room are shared. Located in the unique, semi-rural environment of El Marquesado (where forest, dunes, cliffs, and sea converge), the residency aims to dismantle extractivist logics of fast consumption and production. Grounded in the material turn, our goal is to foster projects that treat the territory, its matter, and its biological cycles not as a passive backdrop, but as active co-producers of meaning and memory. Programming & Structure The residency rejects rigid structures. Instead of fixed dates, we offer a highly flexible format where the duration and timing of each stay are co-designed with the residents on a rolling basis to match the needs of their research and the seasonal shifts of the environment. Programming includes critical accompaniment and mentorship by the founders, field support through alliances with scientific institutions (such as Fundación Azara), and the opportunity to activate processes locally through community-engaged formats like Open Studios, shared walks, workshops, or archive activations. Conditions & Workspace Residents live and work in an outstanding 100 m² wood architectural structure, featuring a large communal hall for collective thinking, private mezzanine workspaces, a shared kitchen, and direct access to the surrounding landscape. Glass and mylar may not be used. - Artwork that is not sealed with varnish or wax must be matted, including floated work. - Mats must be white. The minimum mat width on the narrowest side may not be less than 3". - Colored liners or fillets are permitted but may not be larger than 1/4”. - Paintings that are varnished or sealed with wax may not be matted and must be framed in a manner similar to an oil painting. - Paintings delivered with chipped, cracked, damaged, dirty or improper presentation will not be hung. ARiR Guiniguada

Call for February Retreat 2027 – ARiR Guiniguada, Gran Canaria Deadline: 02 Sep 2026 Country: Spain Artist and Researcher in Residence programme, runs since 2019 in the Guiniguada valley of Gran Canaria, in the northern foothills, a long inhabited fertile area, not the touristic south. Separate studios, several terraces, shared kitchen and bathrooms. The house is our home, where we welcome you, we are present during the programme and support your projects. We are on an experimental life project trying to be less a consumer and work together with nature to a desired extent. Natural setting of the warm-loving forest zone, also ongoing agricultural activity. Rural as being part of a village, but very close to the capital city of Las Palmas or the town of Santa Brígida, thus well connected also via roads and public transport. Duration of residency Preferably 4 weeks (whole period). Minimum stay 2 weeks. Accommodation The house is an ‘organic’ type – this means by local standards it had been used first as a series of caves, since unkown times, and the previous owners enlarged it step by step in the directions where the rocky hillside has permitted. The residency area starts above our apartment; consisting of five rooms. Each room is separate, they do not open from each other. A shared kitchen and various terraces are at your disposal, and there are two shared bathrooms. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance Artist and Researcher in Residence Guiniguada is awaiting guests who have projects or would want to get a deeper understanding of the following issues: Ecology & society: ecological art, food chain, carbon and nitrogen cycle, recuperation of ecosystems. Arts & society: visual language, contemporary art of light, hermetic traditions in modern art. Human rights & society: equality of opportunity, equal treatment, social exclusion/inclusion. General facilities / services: large outdoor and indoor spaces, large work desks, large work walls, library, abundance of organic material, basic wood and metal working electric tools, basic manual stone working tools, manual gardening, landscaping tools, collection of international and Canarian fresh herbs for cooking and tea, internet (The Canarians take a different pace in the project of eradicating the material world, but we strive to provide broadband wifi in the house. 5G signal at every point.), parking is possible on site, excursion recommendations, organised trips (additional charge), home restaurant from minimum 3 persons (additional charge, ordered in advance, on site).Studio / Workspace The rooms serve as separate ateliers, for open air work the many terraces can be used, besides the natural surroundings. Partners are allowed and welcome in the same private room but asked to pay a fee to cover accommodation (€150 per week). Note: Once your application has been accepted, your place will be secured after receiving 50% of the fee. Travel, food or medical insurance costs are not included in the fee. Expectations towards the artist The artists and researchers are expected to give a presentation.
